@thebluetruther @vikare06 Those probably wouldn't be powerful to light a giant set. In the story of the original setup, they went and arranged the lights from the LA Public Works... Actual street lamps.
@thebluetruther @vikare06 You got to remember that the guy that invented the Sodium Vapor process (Petro Vlahos) went on to perfect blue screen and then started Ultimatte for analog / digital video.
@thebluetruther @vikare06 I did something similar to Mary Poppins with a Canon C200 on an ad for a college play... Less than ideal lighting. With 4K, it's gotten quite easy actually.
@vikare06 @thebluetruther I'll bite... There's big issues with sodium vapor that have been solved with other processes... One is you can't stand on it. Notice in Poppins how the floor had to be constructed in every shot. As cool as it is, the process was supplanted by superior tech even before digital
