Living through war rewires the mind in ways few can imagine. My essay confronts the dark truth of craving the sounds of survival – and the fragile hope for peace to break this cycle. Read here:

Nouriel Roubini: While Trump is hoping for scenario one, this is probably wishful thinking.

While Trump is hoping for scenario one, this is probably wishful thinking. It is the radicals and hardliners in Tehran who have the upper hand. They have already demonstrated their willingness and ability to withstand the economic pain of the blockade, and they will not be facing voters this fall.

David Albright is THE expert on Iran's quest for nuclear weapons [NW] w centrifuge enrichment. He states: Iran was v. close to NW before the June 2025 war. Military threats no longer worked. Deterrence had already failed. Today, Iran is far from NW. War not futile as many claim

Now that the US has become post-heroic & unwilling to commit several thousand airborne & Marine troop to occupy the Persian Gulf islets to deny minelaying & missile teams, Iran can "close" the Straits, ie. raise the risk to tankers, to the immense joy of Trump & USA haters.
"If Hussein hadn't gone to war in 67, the west bank would've been in his hands.
If Assad hadn't gone to war in 67, the Golan heights would've stayed Syrian.
If Nasser hadn't gone to war, the Sinai desert and Gaza Strip were in his hands"

The Iran Massacres and our Complicity
"The mullahcracy is an octopus; cutting one tentacle won’t kill it. Why does the West refuse to face a regime that finances Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis and militias, orders attacks and assassinations across Europe?"

Is Iran too “complex” to deserve freedom?
The West wants to believe Iranians aren’t ready for change. Paralyzed by fear, it shows it simply doesn’t care about this resisting people.
A word haunts every discussion on Iran in Parisian newsrooms and Quai d’Orsay salons: “complexity.” Complexity as a screen. Complexity as absolution. An elegant way of saying Iranians aren’t quite ready for freedom or democracy — the basic rights we’ve demanded since 1789 and refuse to extend to others under cultural relativism, which is racism in a frock coat.
Contempt for executed Iranians and protesters shot with war weapons — men and women of every background simply calling for political change.
The contempt of war reporters who dine with regime officials and call Larijani “pragmatic” while he demands “firmness” against “enemies of God.” The pragmatism of executioners is what cowards call their complacency.
The contempt of think tanks claiming December 2025 protests were “counterproductive” because they might provoke foreign interference. Demanding freedom = destabilizing? The balance they protect belongs to the mullahs. Their compass is the anti-Western agenda.
The contempt of those who declare: “You don’t import democracy to Islamic lands.” Paternalism and gross ignorance. Persia is 5,000 years old. Cyrus the Great proclaimed human rights 600 years before Christ. Iranians today demand their own confiscated history — not imported democracy.
The contempt of Macron: when war broke out in March, the Élysée’s priority was the Strait of Hormuz — tanker freedom, not Iranian freedom. This hierarchy of urgencies reveals more than any “values” speech. We choose not to hear educated, secular, feminist Iranians who demand exactly what we claim for ourselves — abandoning them in every repression since 2009.
The mullahcracy is an octopus; cutting one tentacle won’t kill it. Why does the West refuse to face a regime that finances Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis and militias, orders attacks and assassinations across Europe?
Simple: we are afraid. Afraid of Islamists. Afraid of the gaze that sees support for Iranians as support for America or Israel.
This is not prudence. This is not diplomacy.
This is contempt.
And contempt — in foreign policy as in personal morality — is always complicity.

@ZelenskyyUa Volodymyr Zelenskyy, are you watching? We stood with you against Putin’s criminal megalomania. Will you now look the other way while Erdogan’s Turkey rewrites maritime law at gunpoint and plunders EU sovereign rights?

🚨 Turkey is turning up the heat on Greece & Cyprus — again.
While @YusufErim34 (TRT World editor) posts “EFES 2026” invasion drills on islands near Greek islands and tweets “Hope for peace, prepare for war”… Ankara is quietly preparing to codify its illegal “Blue Homeland” claims into domestic law.
That means:
• Claiming huge chunks of Greek & Cypriot waters
• Even eyeing ¾ of Crete, Greece’s largest island
• Pretending Greece “violates treaties” for simply defending its own sovereign islands, which are under threat
This isn’t “reaction.” This is classic aggressor playbook: beat the war drums, then act shocked when the victims arm themselves.
EU & NATO — are you watching? Or will you play ostrich again while a NATO member tries to rewrite maritime law at gunpoint and loot EU sovereign rights?
🔥Greece’s & Cyprus’s borders = Europe’s borders.
Time to back international law and dignity/strength of a continent of 450 m citizens, not empty words.
