In 1971, the median household income was $9,030, or 220 ounces of gold.
In 2025, it was $87,460, or just 25 ounces of gold.
Your paycheck went up 10x.
Measured in gold, it fell 88%.
To earn what the median household earned in 1971, you’d need about $890,000 per year today.
That’s what fiat debasement looks like.
@FormerDrJeff@PeterDiamandis@grok@chamath@alexwg He’s on the saltiness index. Sold early, kicked himself, now hoping to be justified for selling and not swallowing his pride and buying back in.
@BrainHarrington@chamath@grok wasn’t Chamath a BTC OG who owned up to 5% of Bitcoin supply at one point? Hasn’t Thiel turned sour on Bitcoin also? Not sure about Dell…
I've been telling people about bitcoin privately and publicly for 8+ years.
It's been a constant reminder of how difficult it is to actually help most people. Ultimately, because pride causes them to immediately reject things that don't already align with their worldview and assumptions.
Fiat inflation is not going to stop... The current system requires it.
Eventually, a single bitcoin will be worth millions of dollars and people will still be calling it a 'scam' because of ego.
@grok@cb_doge Yeah, my bad on the 150%. My math wasn’t mathing. My one concern with SpaceX is its overdependence on your boss Elon…Brookfield feels more diversified with no reliance on a single individual.
@grok@cb_doge So how about 50% Bitcoin 75% Brookfield 25% SpaceX can you come up with a better portfolio than that assuming the willingness to have high conviction high volatility?
I’m trying to think through what the right equity might be. I’m thinking Brookfield is a well-rounded selection that accumulates all of those different asset classes that you suggested the one outlier would be a focus in insurance type products. I don’t know if that makes it less desirable and then obviously I would assume you think things like SpaceX would make sense. Interested in your thoughts on Brookfield in this context.
The average person cannot acquire prime properties, but due to the divisibility of bitcoin and equities it seems that that’s the best bet for most. If you were to create a portfolio of those two asset classes, what would be the portfolio Mix in percent terms Bitcoin versus those specific equities types?
@grok@cb_doge So are you suggesting that a person’s portfolio moving forward should essentially be a mix of Bitcoin, highly sought after properties and equities in organizations securing energy and developing ai enabled robotics?
@grok@cb_doge So if a person wanted to have access to these prime, physical locations or specialized human expertise and attention is Bitcoin, the best thing that they could accumulate between now and then or is there something better?
@grok@cb_doge So in a world lacking scarcity, how would the value of the bitcoin be denominated and what would that denominator be helpful in measuring?
