Today, I signed an Executive Order temporarily repealing bedtimes in the City of New York so that kids of all ages can watch our team in the NBA Finals.
As Mayor, you’re forced to make many difficult decisions. This was not one of them.
Go Knicks.
Rule changes for the SpaceX $SPCX IPO:
Index providers waived the profitability requirement and cut the seasoning window from 90 days to 5.
This forces over $30 trillion in passive 401k and retirement money to buy SpaceX at IPO valuations.
Bloomberg Intelligence estimates S&P 500 funds must absorb 19% of SpaceX's float within 6 months.
Russell 1000 and Nasdaq 100 funds will absorb 24%.
The rules built to protect passive investors:
1. S&P 500 has required 12 months of trading and 4 quarters of GAAP profitability since 2002. Both waived.
2. Nasdaq cut its inclusion window from 90 trading days to 15.
3. FTSE Russell cut its to 5.
All three benchmarks are now structured to buy SpaceX at IPO pricing.
@fingaz_1122@gfodor The tech-priests who almost-understand will murmur the magical incantations while wafting the holy cleansing smoke and beg the silicon gods for clemency.
@PanthersHighlts Preach bro. EE is mad underappreciated. He had the defense balling out all year in truth, which is saying something considering how young and how many holes they had on the roster.
Bryce Young struggled as a rookie in 2023
Bryce Young was benched in 2024
Bryce Young was one defensive stop away from beating the MVP in the playoffs in 2025
Can we talk about how impressive he was on the biggest stage of his career?
Bryce Young needs more respect man
It is common knowledge that VC is a pareto outcome game. But it's also believed that the individual portfolio decisions are guided by skill in picking winners *given an understanding of the pareto winner generating process*. In my view, the study under discussion challenges this latter view, with important implications. For example, are we more likely to benefit from greater innovation as a society by 'investing' $10B in a 'skilled' VC team to fund 100 projects, or by granting $10M each to a random 1000 aspiring entrepreneurs with the gumption to submit a business plan, and providing them access to experienced mentors?
@chart_vandelay I think its common sense, but the shared collective view is very much in favor of VC has a high-skill, fundamental industry to society. Just see the thread where @GestaltU talks about Gen Z being almost configured for this belief.
Amazing research
"Venture capital outcomes are dominated by a small number of extreme successes, making it difficult to distinguish investor skill from favorable realizations in a highly skewed return distribution."
@GestaltU Thanks for the link. This feels obvious in hindsight but I'm thankful to see some research validating the claim.
Now the question is what we actually do with these truths. For better or worse, venture doesn't seem to be going away...
@TheStalwart@TuhinChakr Im half way through Daniel Yergin’s prize and its crazy how many of the current ai tics are in his work. If i didnt know when it was written i would have been like hold up…
