The reason the Lily WHite Republican movement didn't last long was... well... Reconstruction disenfranchised Black voters. In 1936, Black voters started voting for Democrats but

They've bc they've always voted the OPPOSITE of those "unqualified Blacks"

But when this happened, white Republicans didn't rejoice. Southern white dems AND GOPers said Black voters & candidates were unqualified.
