@daemon1995@yone Finally I have found good photos of the Panasonic SPARC portable. Hopefully I can find one for myself one day! I need to find a copy of that book too…
@spacebruce dual 5.25 disk model is the earlier one from 1983, single 3.5 disk model is the newer one (lisa2)... which also cost half as much, about 5k. they were later made to run early MacOS, and some were still being used to run mac apps into the 90s.
@SocTransitLover poor internal layout and several baffling design issues. look closely and you’ll notice they have hung crappy “curtains” inside to lower glare from the massive windows. I’m told blinds were cut due to costs…
@TheSlowBurn Carlaw is legit but you’re right. Mowat Ave. is so awe inspiring. The view South from king street has stuck with me since I first saw it decades ago.
@Jarrettmmr@JakeLandauTO the added cost of the curve rebuilds meant that conversion to traditional rail was always a more attractive option. But subways are deserved… and future subway riders matter more than current riders stuck on busses.
@JakeLandauTO Unfortunately closing the line was set in stone as soon as the Scarborough subway extension won against the LRT conversion plan. It’s unfortunate, and Scarborough has to live with the consequences of decades of dithering.
@JakeLandauTO@doconnoronca both curves on the line were too tight. the 1st curve at kennedy was actually too tight for the mark1s... that's why they squealed so much there. the pitch was to swap the vehicles to something conventionally propelled.
Thank you @vcfederation, and everyone who came and said hi at VCF East this weekend!
I had a great time with my first time officially exhibiting, meeting new people, and sharing a small fraction of my obsessions.
If you have any follow-up questions, drop me a line!
Thanks!
