Our response to reports cruise giant Carnival UK intends to use ‘fire and rehire’ against 900 crew.

General Secretary Mick Lynch said: “Our members covered by the RMT legacy agreements at P&O Cruises and others working across the Carnival UK Group are rightly concerned at the reports that their employers may be seeking to enact a fire and rehire scheme as a means of slashing pay and conditions.”

Workers' rights are under attack from big business & the UK Gov't. They've opposed my previous Bills to ban #FireAndRehire.
If unwilling to act it's time they transferred powers on employment law to a Scottish Parliament & Gov't committed to workers' rights across the board.

Today, they backed down from that threat.

I'm pleased they've seen sense & remembered their advert distancing themselves from @POferries disgrace.

The tories have, in effect, shamefully voted down the #FireandRehire Bill. Enough is enough. If the UK won't act to protect workers, they must devolve employment law to Holyrood now & let a Scottish Gov’t committed to banning fire & rehire boost employment rights across the board
