Come join @karisma_IDRx and I in Dallas! Children's Health is hiring a 3rd pediatric ID/ASP specialist pharmacist to grow our program: https://t.co/ewaPIb76uh
The amoxicillin shortage is very scary to me as a pediatric ID pharmacist, and we should all be afraid of how it could impact antimicrobial resistance and the supply of other antibiotics.
In children undergoing nonemergent surgery, does continuation of antimicrobial prophylaxis following incision closure result in lower surgical site infection?
This large multicenter study @JAMASurgery confirms what we already know but don't implement!

I’d like to propose that when ordering antibiotics, if you select aspiration pneumonitis as the indication, a pop up triggers that says 🚨GOTCHA🚨and then the order exits.

Check out our new article in @ICHEJournal. We found that abx stewardship recommendations made by female pharmacists were far less likely to be accepted by docs than those made by men. Concerning implications. @EmilySpivak https://t.co/aXoRPmKdyo
@ByeShel It can be interesting! My dog was put on cefixime for a likely Staph skin infection - I asked my vet and he said it’s recommended in the guidelines. Turns out - it’s true. Found them myself 😂
It’s so important to have diverse experiences in school. I can’t put into words how helpful my CVS job as a student has been when I am working on transitions of care for a complicated patient. Knowing the inpatient and outpatient sides of pharmacy!!
