Florida initiative convening dozens of organizations and leaders surrounding efforts to improve the first 1000 days of a child's life, from pregnancy to age 3.
@HealthyFla We advocate safe feeding for all babies and with our @FSU_CPEIP partners, also educate that formula reconstituted with fluoridated water can lead to excessive fluoride intake.
Our multi-agency panel "Centering Maternal Mental Health Across the First 1000 Days" was an eye-opening frank discussion of challenges and possibilities in Florida thanks to @FSU_CPEIP Dr. Richey, @FLHospitalAssn Mary Mayhew, @_FACHC Dr. Rider, @NEFhealthystart Faye Johonson
The Florida Department of Health is proud to support the Healthy Florida First initiative to expose toxins in our food. Today, alongside Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis, State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo shared the results of infant formula testing performed to protect our most vulnerable population. We remain committed to holding companies accountable to prioritize the health and safety of Floridians.
Early nutrition plays a critical role in growth and development. Understanding what is present in infant formula supports informed decision-making for parents and caregivers.

The Governor just signed our legislation to end period poverty in FL schools! Schools already provide necessary sanitary equipment in bathrooms like toilet paper, soap, & paper towels. Now, bc of our years-long fight, menstrual hygiene products will be no different. A period should end a sentence, not an education — yet 1 in 4 girls report missing school bc they don’t have access to basic health & hygiene products. This is a major win for FL students!
As we shine the light on #pregnancyandinfantlossawarenessmonth, we recognize that preventable stillbirth is an issue that affects Black, Indigenous, and Latinx families disproportionately in the United States. -1
