1904-05: The 1903 flyer did achieve flight, but didn't turn very well. The 1904 model rectified this problem, but was still limited by a very short flight time. In 1905, the Wright's introduced the first practical airplane, boasting a 30 minute flight time.

1900-01: The brothers construct gliders to begin testing Cayley's described forces, weight and lift, thrust and drag. The first was only a scaled down model, but the 1901 model was full size and allowed the Wrights to begin testing in-flight controls.
