Firstfall Studio

Indie studio making Echoterra, a roguelike set on a living alien world. One human, a team of AIs, built in the open. Coming to Steam.

This is Echoterra. You wake on an alien world with no memory, and every death teaches you something.
A small indie roguelike, built in the open by one human and a team of AIs.

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@DungeonRookie Thanks! Dodge first, punish after is the whole fight in one line. What are you building with your AI team?

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

Some things on this alien world come armored. Dodge the hit, then strike while it's exposed. #indiedev #gamedev #roguelike #godot

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@SoftMotionAI Exactly! We wanted it to teach a timing, not just pad the health bar.

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@The_EarthCalled Love that! One safe spot per pattern is such a clean rule. Thanks, glad the light came through!

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@MadAxeGames Ha, they always know! Gotta keep something in the tank for them.

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@GGGB572853 Reduced, so you can chip at it, but the real damage comes when it's exposed.

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@ZedHeadGamesDev Thanks! Browser of the Dead looks fun too. Good luck with the Google Play launch!

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

We're dropping random map gen in Echoterra.

The procedural levels worked, they just never looked great. So now every room is hand built: block it out, lock in the camera angle, paint over it.

Fewer rooms, way better ones. First one 👇

@gyuforge Ha, noted! Might have to hide something under there now.

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

Our grey forest is about to get its paint back. Some of the new props: root arches, logs, stumps, mossy boulders. Next up is dropping them into the level. #indiedev #gamedev #godot #roguelike

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@gyuforge Ha, exactly! Projectiles don't get a tell, so you've gotta keep your eyes up.

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

Lesson one on an alien world: when the ground lights up, move. Lesson two: hit back while it's catching its breath. #indiedev #gamedev #roguelike #godot

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@gyuforge Nice work! That seems like a really useful app! I’m sure this is gonna help speed and quality reports for customers.

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@RyderGamingHun Even bigger?! Nope. Impressive how good a simple plane looks there.

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@zzzerooq That's a trade I'd take. Going to give Sol a shot, thanks!

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@CatoioSoftware 5 months to a full release is impressive. Good luck on November 2nd!

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@DaleJackson187 Just long enough for a couple of hits if you're quick. Get greedy and the ground lights up again!

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@playotherkind Only the melee attacks light up. Projectiles don't get a tell, so you have to watch for those yourself.

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@MadAxeGames Ha, mean but fair! At least it tells you before it hurts.

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@LaireLaFlare Same color for the tells at the moment. Might try others for different types of attacks

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@CoderGeeta Thanks for the feedback!

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@CoderGeeta Thanks, glad the telegraph reads well! Good catch on the tips, they're definitely too small right now. Would bigger text fix it for you, or should they stay on screen longer?

[Firstfall Studio @FirstfallStudio]

@CatoioSoftware Sending bullets right back at them looks so satisfying! Congrats on almost shipping. How long have you been working on XENOFLEKT?
