And they pick ppl who will be easiest for the general public to sympathize with. That doesn’t mean we have a buffer class at least not the way other countries do.

@brownsugaaaa3 @Skidrow511 Come to think of it the majority of black/mixed leading roles throughout mainstream media have been mixed or light skin (Eartha Kit, Halle Berry, the girl from Clueless, ect) mainstream media has always been like this. We just don’t have that many black avenues.

Fully Black actors (hell even half for most of movie history) will not and have never had substantial careers based on shows/movies for white audiences. Who is considered black and who isn’t even top 5 issues as to y we don’t have mainstream black talent.

Appealing to a general (white) audience means charecters they can relate to (even lighter fully black ppl). Established black creatives have talked about how hard it is to get black projects off the ground now.
