@TBU12345678 For labor to accrue more power they would need to organize, I’d like to see what a high-end financial services union looks like. I’d bet the inherent distrust in their neighbor would immediately get them caught.
The cost benchmarking showed that production tokens are a commodity and will keep capturing volume but frontier tokens will capture profits. Pareto combo was a frontier supervisor + OS line model. Keep this in mind as PE tries to dump SW IPOs into the market on an IGV re-rate.
The customers are now benchmarking the labs
A real reversal: official benchmarks don’t mean much anymore. Every lab trains for them & every launch tops them. So DoorDash built its own test and ran the models through it
No model won on everything. The best setup was a mix… and it changed when a new model shipped
A lot of companies are going to copy this. If you can test the models yourself, you don’t have to take the labs word for anything
TIL (h/t @energynicholas) that the state of Texas offers 20yr 3% fixed rate loans for building CCGT nat gas units in the state
Lower cost of capital than the federal Dept of Energy offers!

@paulxgu >2/3 of U21M need to be contributing $100/mo net gaming revenue (the numbers quoted are gross gaming revenue which includes recycled funds and not representative of how much is “lost” gambling).
@irbezek@RyeNotBerben@Hot_Fire_LLC Live music hits new peaks every year. I’m more concerned that the industry takes too much price and cuts a generation off from access (what alcohol did basically). Agreed on these things coming back, but my view is it takes 8-12yrs.
@lulumeservey That video is sort of thing Steve Jobs would’ve produced. Rather have more bicycle for the mind like that then the fearmongering from big labs.
MidJourney just announced... a full body ultrasound! Yup... read on because it's as crazy as it sounds.
"As powerful as MRI and as casual as a trip to the spa"
They are calling it "the @midjourney scanner"
Insane details:
- First, the scale. The device uses 8,960 individual transducers arranged in a ring around your body
- The precision is the most jaw-dropping part: it resolves motion at the picometer range. It can image internal tissues finer than the width of an atom. We are talking sub-atomic level diagnostic capability
- The compute requirement is massive. The system processes 17 gigabytes of data per second.
It takes 40GB of raw data to reconstruct just one cross-sectional slice. And they are planning to scan 100 slices?
- Midjourney claims that fewer than 12 of these machines could perform more full-body scans than every MRI machine on Earth combined.
Welcome to the future of healthcare!
Not only these scanners are announced, they will exist in a "Midjourney SPA" - with hot tubs, saunas, cold plunges, and 9-10 whole body scanners.
@gkamstra Is the new pet lump sum offset by price of keeping a pet longer? Lastly, it feels like industry had big pull forward in COVID but are younger generations getting pets as kid replacements still? Some data suggests they are having trouble finding jobs but those reports maybe wrong
@gkamstra Agreed it’s Lindy, I would get a dog if I had WFH flexibility. But, think HH penetration of pet ownership declines due to inflation. Or even a mix shift towards cat vs dog bc of affordability is lower LTV for the industry.
I’m an AI researcher turned brain tumor patient, and recently I used the models to crack my mystery fatigue faster than my PCP could.
I believe everyone can do the same with their own symptoms. Here’s how:
