The SHELF crew had an egg-sail-ent sunrise this morning as they continued to collect fish eggs on the West Florida Shelf to help us better understand spawning dynamics in the Gulf of Mexico! #GOM_SHELF@FIOTweet @virome_girl @USFCMS@USFResearch
First official CUFES collection underway as the team begins to "mow the lawn" across the West Florida Shelf to bring back fish eggs that @virome_girl will DNA barcode! #GOM_SHELF
The Weatherbird II headed offshore this morning for a 12-day cruise to collect fish eggs across the broad West Florida Shelf using a Continuous Fish Egg Sampler (CUFES). #GOM_SHELF@FIOTweet @virome_girl @USFCMS@USFResearch
#USF PhD student @OliviaBlondheim combines her #oyster research and passion for #citizenscience with the hope of improving #waterquality in #TampaBay.

Latest paper from Spawning Habitat & Early-Life Linkages to Fisheries (SHELF) used DNA barcoding & PO models to estimate fish egg transport. Eggs spawned on the inner & middle West Florida Shelf tended to be retained and eggs from the outer shelf exported https://t.co/XOuhTPkGZ9
🚨New paper! We used trophic niche metrics to compare stable isotope data from two seagrass die-offs in Florida Bay to see if and how the food web may have changed between time points. (Spoiler alert: it did!) https://t.co/Js7DOMY3sp @jnelsonPhD @FosterEmelie@wryanjames
@hanvanzan I find that using the phrase "for safety purposes" on receipts works very well at universities. I had to argue this to purchase sunscreen for my field crew. I argued they wouldn't deny a chemist an apron, gloves, and goggles to protect their skin.
