The Nature First Program brings local first-grade students to Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve for hands-on outdoor learning. Volunteers help welcome students, support transitions between habitat stations and encourage kids as they explore.

No teaching experience is required. Fishers Parks’ Nature First guides lead the activities, while volunteers help create a safe, positive and supportive experience.

This midday weekday opportunity is a great fit for those with daytime availability, including stay-at-home parents and retirees.

- Respect barricades and closures. Do not walk or drive around barricades or enter flooded areas.

After today’s press conference with Hamilton County leaders and local mayors, Mayor @ScottFadness shared an update with on ongoing response efforts in Fishers, the transition into recovery and what residents can expect next.

Over the past few days, Fishers first responders and crews have been working to connect with residents impacted by flooding along Fall Creek and the White River.

From Thursday through Saturday:

Crews made contact with residents at 85 homes.
- 34 homes were searched.
- 16 homes were evacuated, helping 27 adults, five juveniles and 20 pets reach safety.
- Each day, the response included 58 @FishersFireDept firefighters, 12 @fishers_police officers and five to seven Department of Public Works personnel.

This response was a true community effort. Thank you to our partners at Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, @HamiltonCoEOC, Duke Energy, @FallCreekTwp and @DelawareTwnspIN for supporting residents and crews throughout the flooding response.

We’re grateful to everyone who stepped up to help our community during a challenging few days.

Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness has issued a Local Disaster Emergency Declaration in response to historic flooding throughout the city following unprecedented rainfall.

The City of Fishers has also launched a 24/7 resident assistance hotline at 317-595-3211 for non-emergency flood-related needs. For emergencies, call 911.

Residents can also report flood impacts and request support by completing the flood recovery form at https://t.co/M3RDMaQr2a.

Do not drive around barricades or enter flooded areas to sightsee. Drivers ignoring closures are creating additional hazards and pulling critical public safety resources away from residents who need immediate assistance.

Please avoid flooded areas, never drive through floodwaters and follow guidance from public safety officials as response and recovery efforts continue.

The Local Disaster Emergency Declaration remains in effect through Saturday, Aug. 22.
