Guy in my DMs told me he passed 14 prop firm challenges in 8 months.

But only got 3 payouts.

The rest?

All breached during verification or first payout phase.

I asked him what was happening.

He said:

'I don't know man, I pass the challenge easily but then I lose discipline once I'm on the funded account.'

So I asked to see his stats.

During challenges:

Average 8-12 trades per month. Win rate around 68%. Clean risk management.

During funded phase:

Average 35-50 trades per month. Win rate dropped to 51%. Messy trade selection.

He was passing challenges by being patient.

Then immediately overtrading once funded.

Why?

Because he felt pressure to make money fast.

He'd think:

'I need to hit 5% this month to get a good payout.'

So instead of waiting for his A+ setups like he did in the challenge…

He'd start forcing trades.

B setups. C setups. Revenge trades after a loss.

Within 3-4 weeks, trailing drawdown would kill him.

I told him:

'You already know how to pass challenges. Just trade the funded account the exact same way.'

He didn't want to hear it.

'But that's too slow. I'll only make 2-3% per month.'

I said:

'And? On $300k in funding, 2% is $6,000. On $1M, it's $20,000. You're breaking accounts trying to rush for 5-8% when 2-3% done consistently would've already made you six figures this year.'

He finally listened.

Stopped overtrading.

Kept the same patience he had during challenges.

Last I heard, he's at $800k in funding and pulled $40k+ in payouts in the last 4 months.

Most traders fail prop firms not because they can't pass challenges.

They fail because they change their behavior once funded.

Trade the funded account like it's still a challenge.

Patience doesn't stop once you get the payout button.
