@PnPCBC@AmbJohnBolton The existential threat is WAR. @JustinTrudeau needs to keep Canada away from AUKUS & any other group or country promoting war, including US. Haven't seen any diplomatic defense strategies, only war preparations. China isn't the root problem, as Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam weren't
Sheryl Crow speaks out after Trump’s UFC 250 event: “To stay quiet means to turn a blind eye. And so I am saying this. What happened last night on the lawn of the White House was disgraceful and void of decency. Powerful, rich people filled the lawn to watch a violent sport that ended with a vile and racist comment. All while the average American cannot afford healthcare, gas, and cost of living. Do not be fooled. This administration is corrupt and does not give a damn about the American people. It only cares about making money hand over fist at the expense and in spite of our democracy. If we continue to support this kind of distraction from reality, we are no better than them. Let's be better, America.”
@craigforrest1 Enjoy your NSL commentary. I would like your opinion on D B Pridham goal at 8:38 of the highlight video. Is she offside?

The Myth: Carter Hart is a redemption story.
The Reality: Hart did a horrible thing and has never acknowledged that. But it’s not too late.
- - -
When Hart was asked about the “no means no” chants, he had an opportunity to make a statement. He chose to minimize it to “just noise”.
He could have said, “I heard the fans and that is their right. And I agree with them that ‘No means no’. People are trying to use my past against me, but I am looking forward to show everyone how much I have grown since a mistake I made in my past.”
It might feel like it is asking a lot to come up with an answer like that, but he had time to prepare. It has been an entire year since his trial ended. He must have known this moment would eventually come: someone will make him face his involvement in conduct that the NHL has publicly deemed “abhorrent”.
His answer was not simply hockey cliches, it was a statement. He thinks he was the victim. He takes no responsibility for what happened. He feels so entitled, that he shrugs off lying under oath because he probably thinks that is his right.
(tw // sa)
Cal Foote was naked. Several players confessed in 2022 to that fact. Not a single witness other than Hart dared to say under oath that Foote was clothed. Each one claimed to simply forget. Hart didn’t remember much in his testimony, but this was one fact of that night he said with so much conviction that it was cited in the final ruling. Even Hart’s most dedicated supporters hardly ever contest this fact. If they take the time to read the 91-page report they love to reference, they would know the judge was careful in her language when she made her ruling on Foote. She never said he had consent. Only that his “party trick” was “not a sexual act”.
That ruling is nonsensical; if you are having consensual sex with your partner (or partners), and a random uninvited man enters the room and drops his junk into your face: that is sexual assault, EVEN IF YOU ARE WEARING GYM SHORTS. I pray that this will never happen to you or a loved one, and if it ever does, I hope people believe those that are brave enough to share that horrific story.
Hart, at the very least, was complicit in sexual assault as soon as he lied to protect Cal Foote. If evidence that was omitted from the trial on a technicality was allowed, Hart’s testimony could be bordering on perjury.
He was punished by the league, and as a society, we need to respect that. Some will see that as him having paid a fair price for his actions. I disagree, but I recognize that Michael McLeod put Hart in a horrible situation. There is a reason no NHL team will touch McLeod. What he did was evil. I hope Hart realizes that too and hates McLeod for what he did that night. That being said, a path to forgiveness is still possible.
On the day he was acquitted, his lawyer said publicly “Hart in particular was willing to engage in a restorative justice process. He was willing to be publicly named and was prepared to use his public platform to teach other athletes about how to ensure that their sexual encounters are responsible and thoughtful. Instead of pursuing restorative justice, the Crown forced a distressing and unnecessary trial to the detriment of Mr. Hart…”
That statement speaks to the lack of accountability we are witnessing.
It is cruel to pretend he was on the cusp of being an ally to sexual violence victims, only to turn around and reduce their voice to “just noise”.
Everyone deserves a second a chance, but that requires the sort of restorative justice his legal team taunted us with.
Hart could wake up tomorrow and donate a percentage of his paycheck to a local rape crisis centre. He could start and fund a high school education program where he speaks to young people about the complexities of real consent.
If that happens, we should not be cynical. There is nothing more we could ask of someone. But until he takes that step, we will continue to remind him:
“No means no”
Friendly reminder this is the 2nd World Cup Canada has hosted - the first was in 2015.
This is the first *men’s* World Cup on Canadian soil.

@tboon007@dodgedonald7@nationalpost There is no 'reporting'. That word signals some journalistic research, evidenced based data, & truth. None of that here.

Haiti v Scotland is the World Cup’s only group-stage match where both countries occupy the smaller, mountainous part of a major island shared with a larger neighbour.
Haiti has western Hispaniola. Scotland has northern Great Britain.

When a family in Vermont reached out to Baltimore restaurant owner Steve Chu asking for the recipe of a favorite dish enjoyed by their terminally ill loved one, they expected instructions.
Instead, they received something far more meaningful.
Steve Chu, co-owner of Ekiben, loaded his truck with ingredients and drove nearly six hours from Baltimore to Vermont.
Along with his team, he set up a makeshift kitchen outside the woman's home and prepared her beloved meal fresh on-site.
They refused payment and simply wanted to bring comfort and happiness during a difficult time.
What began as a request for a recipe became an unforgettable act of compassion, proving that kindness often travels much farther than anyone expects.
@grok@reggiebomb555@amuse@NYCMayor Isn't it that the company can protect their income, owns the property, the furniture, the horses & other hobbies, etc so no or low cost. It allows dining, travel, etc, etc to be written off. Removing the corporate entity as a 'person'. Let all pay for living as regular people do
@DeFozzy@kelvJoe@ioangrillo I understand the Champions League Final has attracted huge domestic audiences, including a peak of 23 million viewers in the UK & nearly 4 million viewers on English-language television in the United States.
In Canada & the US soccer is becoming more popular. Future generations?
@HornChronicles@C_Mingo11@FIFAcom Then the US needs to review & provide information much earlier if they are not letting people in. Two other countries are available & people could be approved to play, ref, or do whatever their position is with their country . This is FIFA kowtowing to #47's whims & manipulations
@BenSteiner00 Mighty FIFA throws its weight around everywhere except the US where Trump is allowed to play obnoxious games to feel powerful. Ridiculous. Should have dealt with all this properly long ago, & not allow these last minute changes to status.
