The Level 80 update is only affecting Trainer levels.

You won’t be able to power up Pokemon beyond current max level.

Long overdue. Doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing either. Can't say I care either way what happens to POGO. It's had a solid 9 year run. Time for something new to take it's place. Pokemon Pocket is doing well & it's more fun to play that with a lot less spending #PokemonGO
