A massive, gorgeous country stuffed to the gills with valuable resources.

A small, highly educated population.

A heritage of Christian values and a liberty oriented political system.

A compatible neighbor who also happens to be the global superpower to protect you and trade goods with.

Literally the easiest layup of all time.

So they took that liberty and squandered it in a way that would make even the prodigal son blush.

Truly staggering when you think about it.
