I haven't read The Pale King, and probably won't. My question is, who wrote it? Which isn't necessarily a quality issue, just a confusing one. I'm frustrated that he didn't get it finished before killing himself, which is unbelievably selfish, and shows a real lack of understanding. But it is the truth.
@Arklowrockz I'm so glad you enjoyed Infinite Jest. He also wrote some cracking journalism. One, originally published in Harper's magazine called, "Shipping Out: On the (nearly lethal) comforts of a luxury cruise", is excellent. Harper's paid Wallace to take a seven-night cruise to write a piece of travel journalism. Wallace retitled the piece, calling it, "A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again", which became the title of a collection of essays - it's much longer, over 100 pages (with more footnotes, of course) but well worth checking out. His scathing sense of humour, especially around co-called 'leisure' is at a premium.
@Arklowrockz I bet they've got a string of lines prepared, like "You don't want your family to become the centre of a media circus around race, so best to nip that in the bud. Especially during this very emotional time".
@Arklowrockz Almost just 'annoying admin' that they 'just need to tick a few boxes' for. And at the right time, while they're contemplating one of the worst things that can happen to a family - hypnotized by pain - you just nod your head, because why wouldn't you?
Keir Starmer: "Muslims are successful, brilliant, and creative people. They have made a huge contribution to Britain's history. They are kind, artistic, and educated. They are the face of modern Britain. They are fantastic people."
Put it in your diary. Streaming tomorrow at approximately 17:00 UK time. I will not be promoting my latest Best Selling novel available from Amazon, bookshops, or FREE from libraries. Not a mention, because I’m not like that.
@RealMolotoff@HistoryBro1 I assume you're talking about the work, rather than the person? If you want, you're welcome to come on my channel and discuss Warhol.
@LairdFortean That's very kind. My views on art, language, and postmodernism tend to make me an outlier on the dissident right (or whatever we're calling it this week), but I think they're conversations worth having.
I've accepted Beau's invitation. My feet to the fire will be held.
Had a great chat on Breakfast with Beau on The Lotus Eaters earlier. I mostly talked about language and linguistic oddities in the news, which is probably inevitable.
I've been invited back to discuss art, which should be fun. I think the dissident right has largely misunderstood art. We shall see. https://t.co/3pjLT7KRLU
