So today I turned down reviewing a comic & declined showcasing it on my podcast. Because based off the information I had, they have appeared to have used generative AI in their promotional materials. Originally when I raised my concern after previously vetting them, the creator became defensive & tried to justify its use. I was insulted, called a fool, was told I wasnt probably going to review it anyway & was using this as a cover. I respectfully disagreed & disengaged from the conversation.

I was then reached out to within the hour by the social media manager of the publisher. They apologized saying that their promo material wasn’t AI and Meta had incorrectly flagged their work…which I don’t really believe and the switch up was odd.

I’m going to keep saying this. AI has no place in comic books. Not in story, interiors, covers, promo after, I don’t care. I don’t even care if one of my peers in content creation, reviewed it, co-signed it, and interviewed you. I WON’T. End of story.
