When your office is the Indo-Pacific, strategy, collaboration and partnership are critical for the security of the region.
Last week, the Australian Border Force hosted the Working Level Meeting for the 2025 Heads of Asian Coast Guards Meeting (HACGAM) in Sydney.
HACGAM is a high-profile and prestigious international forum for maritime security agencies in the Indo-Pacific region to engage and work closely together to address a rapidly changing maritime landscape, as well as emerging trends and threats.
It also provides an opportunity for nations to work together to identify solutions to maritime challenges so that countries can develop coordinated responses and be better positioned to address the identified issues in the Asian region in a range of areas including:
π’ Maritime terrorism
π’ Piracy
π’ Armed robbery at sea
π’ People smuggling
π’ Transnational crime
π’ Disaster prevention
HACGAM allows for collaboration, co-design and co-investment in initiatives to secure maritime waters across the Indo-Pacific region.
The ABFβs hosting of HACGAM shows its commitment in fostering regional dialogue and practical cooperation to address civil maritime and security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. This year's HACGAM coincides with the 10th anniversary of Australia being admitted to HACGAM as a member nation, and the first time Australia has hosted the event.
HACGAM is just one part of the ABFβs broader long-term, consistent and collaborative program of engagement with its civil maritime security agency counterparts.

@simonhill1894 @10NewsFirst Congratulations Simon. We have been lucky to have you here! Iβve long thought you would be great commentating back at home. Good luck!
Whilst West Hamβs window has been top shelf, @ExWHUEmployee has been even better. Always knows and is always right on the money. Awesome effort even on holidays. We are lucky to have him βοΈβοΈ
@Peter_Fitz We all know that the whole nuclear idea is just to extend fossil fuels because thatβs what their masters want. Nuclear will never happen. Problem is that isnβt called out and the media go along with it like itβs a genuine policy.
@sydneyswans@bitcoin_com_au Iβve been a Swanβs member for over 25 years and the loudest I ever heard the SCG was that night when @DavisNick_2 came to save us! Louder than Pluggerβs point in 96 or his 1300 or Buddyβs 1000. It was an extraordinary night.
@Peter_Fitz It was the best of all. Itβs now just a grind for penalties kicks. I used to love watching a great test match where in the last 30 minutes it became a beautiful running game, but this has all but disappeared.
