Justice Clarence Thomas choked up on stage as he revealed the vow he made when both his grandparents died suddenly in 1983: to live the rest of his life as a memorial to theirs.

Thomas, abandoned by his father at age seven, was raised by his maternal grandparents in segregated Savannah, Georgia. His grandfather Myers Anderson — raised by a freed slave — had only nine months of formal education. His grandmother Christine made it to the sixth grade. Yet education was their "crown jewel," and self-reliance was the only philosophy they preached.

Thomas said his grandfather's favorite response when young Clarence said he couldn't do something: "Old man can't is dead. I helped bury him."

I am a pretty solid Trump critic. But this is nonsense. Mangione is known for exactly one reason: Premeditated murder. The rest of his fandom stems from very ideological radicalism and from the fact Mangione is good looking. If he looked like Steve Buscemi we wouldn’t be talking about him in the first place.

There’s a great deal to criticize Trump about. But he is not controversial because he committed premeditated murder. Mangione is. And any defense of Mangione boils down to a defense or minimization of murder by proxy. It’s disgusting.

I can’t see his face without thinking of the Fogel family murders—which included a three month old baby murdered in his crib.

The baby was killed LAST.

There was of course no reason to murder an innocent 11 year-old or an innocent four-year-old or their innocent parents for that matter, but there certainly was no reason to slit the throat of a three month old infant sleeping in his crib.

To that point I thought I understood the conflict pretty well, but this opened my eyes about the level of mindless evil that Jews face more than anything else ever could have.

I hope people see these redheaded angels and wake up to the same reality.

This is by far the most damning thing in Fauci’s diaries, or what I’ve read of them. People sometimes get stuck on whether Fauci was right or wrong about where the virus came from, how it spread, etc. But much of that was contested at the time and some of it continues to be. It would have been perfectly within the realm of decency for Fauci to have professional opinions about those matters which turned out to be wrong. I don’t even much mind him getting all bamboozled and doe-eyed about meeting celebrities, though it’s pretty hilarious and does speak to his character a bit.

But no, what’s inexcusable, what ruined lives and deformed entire childhoods, was the imperious dishonesty with which he shamed anyone who questioned him, the moral arrogance with which he feigned certainty on hugely contested questions and then did everything in his considerable power to tank the careers of people who dissented—people with credentials just as good as his, who were a damn sight more honest about how sure they could be and a damn sight more humble about how entitled they were to make life-changing decisions for the voiceless masses.

It’s one thing to have a wrong opinion—or a right opinion, for that matter—about a developing situation based on partial evidence. It’s another thing to know you’re unsure and still talk and act like you’ve descended from the chilly heights of the empyrean to issue cold commands. The man is one of the most odious characters in our public life, and emblematic of an attitude that needs naming and shaming, unpleasant as it is for us all to look back on that wretched time.

On July 27, 1981, 45 years ago today, Adam John Walsh was abducted from a Florida department store and tragically murdered when he was just 6 years old.

In the wake of their son's senseless death, John and Revé Walsh realized countless other children and families needed help. Along with other child advocates, they founded the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) to serve as the nation's resource center for missing and exploited children.

This year also marks 20 years since the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act became law, strengthening protections for children, providing law enforcement with critical tools, and reinforcing NCMEC's mission.

Rip out the regulations strangling small businesses. End the tariffs. Let the free market do the one thing it has always done better than any government program in human history — lift the poor and the middle class upward. When a plumber becomes an employer, and a cashier becomes a franchisee, the socialist recruiter has nothing left to sell.

And finish the job in the schoolhouse. Get children out of the madrasas that manufacture resentment and hand parents the choice to send them somewhere that teaches them to think, not to grieve. We do not need another cohort of downwardly mobile degree-holders nursing a grudge against the country that gave them everything. We need free minds and free markets.

Pentagon releases photo of 3rd soldier killed in Jordan. She will be among 4 American soldiers who will return to Dover Wednesday.

Sgt. Angel Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, is believed to have been killed in action on July 17, 2026, during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan. The incident is under investigation. Rampersad was previously identified as missing. She was assigned to 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52d Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Ansbach, Germany. She served as a 25U Signal Operations Support Specialist.
“Today, we mourn the loss of Sgt. Angel Rampersad,” said Brig. Gen. Glenn Henke, commanding general of the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command. “We extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to her family and all those who are navigating this unimaginable loss. The 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command is grieving, and we will continue to support one another as we process this tragedy.”
Sgt. Rampersad enlisted in the U.S. Army in March 2019. Her awards include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
