News sites like the @smh don't need to be quoted on @ABCmediawatch to defend their journalism. They have their own megaphone--as you can see. But we did summarise their defence and quote from the SMH editorial. Fair and reasonable IMHO.

Never ceases to amaze me how the US is transfixed by 'a motive' in every shooting. Even the highly respected @washingtonpost couldn't help include this line in a story about .... a 6 year old. A SIX year old.
