India has two major parenting models.

Model 2: The other class of parents who will not let a child go out to play after school, will start JEE prep in Class 6, will ask for hisaab of every Rs 10, will slap him for getting less than 90%, shame him in front of teachers, police his friendships with the opposite gender, and if he gets bullied, say "tumne hi kuch kiya hoga."

Model 1 kid inherits the family business, the rental properties, and the family advocate on retainer. Model 2 kid inherits shame and a calibrated fear of disappointing his tuition teacher. Twenty years later, one is on the other's payroll.
