@martinmckee I despair... Why can't people see that other countries are literally doing this and happily living their lives without hundreds of thousands dying & thousands more suffering from lifelong chronic health issues. Can they ALL be bots?? I don't get it... People are dying... ๐คฏ
@martinmckee#ZeroCovid works:
TOTAL deaths:
Australia 909
Finland 688
Iceland 29
New Zealand 25
For those struggling with pop density. It's irrelevant, here's why:
Vietnam
308 per km2
Deaths 35
Taiwan:
652 per km2
Deaths 8
Singapore
7,810 per km2
Deaths 29
UK
275 per km2
Deaths 112,000
@ranty_man@martinmckee The name of the strategy is zero covid, as in these countries want to suppress the virus as much as possible to save lives. No covid is the aim.
@Tobytheredhead@martinmckee Yes, so why don't we adopt those processes? Other countries without that experience did?
Sweden is catching up on deaths per million:
Sweden: 1,184
UK: 1,687
The Swedish PM admits herd immunity was a mistake & even their king called it a "failure".

@Anthony83918513 @martinmckee Oh my goodness, Twitter people & their demands for data - I'm not Alexa! I have no idea! Is there one? Could the UK be one of them maybe? The current plan of death & destruction, among more contagious variants, is not proving to be a viable one...
@inthenorthofuk@Tobytheredhead@martinmckee He was employed by the government as well, wasn't he? Conflict of interest. Boris wants us back out to work & out spending money. He doesn't care about people's lives! He'd be quite happy with a smaller population & a less expensive pension fund.
@inthenorthofuk@Tobytheredhead@martinmckee That suggests harder lockdowns to me. I don't want that, nobody does. I want better measures - track & trace, support for people during isolation, closed borders. All the stuff that's worked in other countries.
@petertimmins3 In France weโve [teachers] have been wearing masks all the time plus ALL children aged 6+ have to wear masks all day at school including when playing outside.
@petertimmins3 Not all schools are operating normally. Lycรฉe here in Dept 17 are on a 'one week at school / one week online lessons' since June (to help with social distancing). Any student not wearing a mask is immediately led back out the gate. Classes sent home to isolate if pos case found.
@petertimmins3 Schools are also open in Spain. Transmission studies have shown the risk low from schools here. However, every pupil aged 6 and over, and every staff member must wear a mask. This is in line with masks being mandatory in every public space here for those aged 6 and above.
@petertimmins3 IN French schools everybody has to wear a mask inside buildings . Students and teachers. Also people wear masks on the streets. #JohnsonHasFailedTheNation
