It matters to me that global health decisions translate into action that impacts access to treatment and quality of life’s for all PLHIV. Also Co-ED at GNP+
Also in the @CHAI_health#Memo: New adult ART initiations declined by nine percent in 2025 compared to 2024 (aggregate of full-year totals), representing approximately 39,000 fewer adults initiated on ART across eight countries. Declines were seen in at least three quarters of 2025 and into Q1 2026 in seven of eight countries compared to the 2024 quarterly average. Each person not initiated on treatment represents a missed opportunity to achieve viral suppression, improve long-term health outcomes, and prevent onward HIV transmission. If sustained, these declines risk reversing recent progress toward epidemic control and are likely to translate into more cases of advanced HIV disease (AHD) and higher morbidity and mortality. So, more work there for @gnpplus@afrocab_hiv@NASCOP@MOH_Kenya and their partners, including @GlobalFund@UNAIDS_ESA@iasociety
Communities have a vital role to play in shaping the future of HIV policy, programming, and markets.
Meaningful community engagement must go beyond a box-ticking or academic exercise—it should be a genuine partnership that informs decision-making and drives equitable access to innovations.
@afrocab_hiv 's Regional CAB Coordinator is proud to contribute to these important conversations at the ongoing Future of HIV Markets Forum in Nairobi, Kenya, co-hosted by @UNITAID and @CHAI_health.
Together, we are advocating for a future where community voices are not only heard but actively shape policies, products, and investments that impact the lives of people affected by HIV.

Dr. Karin Hatzold PSI Global presents an HIV Self-Testing Investment Framework, highlighting how investments in HIV self-testing drive impact far beyond diagnosis from increased treatment uptake and prevention access to stronger health systems, greater equity, and healthier communities. @SelfCare4UHC@floriako@SboNkosiZA
"We stand at a pivotal moment. The Global AIDS Strategy 2026–2031 offers a historic opportunity to embrace self-care as the foundation for genuine transformation. It serves as a pathway to innovation, advancing differentiated service delivery (DSD) through optimised treatment, prevention and point-of-care diagnostics that empower informed decision-making. Investing in self-care strengthens health systems." - GNP+ CO-ED @floriako message at the @SelfCare4UHC self-care conversation @SboNkosiZA
@floriako reiterated the HIV response has already demonstrated the possibilities and that self-care works.
"When people living with HIV are fully included in our own health journeys, our individual actions ripple outward, impacting families, communities, and entire populations. These proven lessons, built on the incredible foundation of community leadership, must now propel us forward." @SelfCare4UHC@SboNkosiZA
#WHO definition of self-care:
"The ability of individuals, families and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and to cope with illness and disability with or without the support of a healthcare provider". - Sarah Onyango from @SelfCare4UHC gives an introduction to self-care and why it is essential. @floriako@SboNkosiZA

The most powerful answer I heard to the question “What does self care mean to you” in Swahili. “Kwangu Mimi, Self Care ni Kujipenda, kujilinda na kujitunza, nikimeza Dawa zangu” 🎉 #PLHIVleadersNow @SboNkosiZA@NJotwoma@gnpplus
Today at the Mombasa County Self-Care Meeting, we had the privilege of having the GNP+ Co-Director @floriako officially open the meeting. As we continue advancing self-care conversations, let us remember that HIV doesn’t pause because priorities shift. Treatment, testing, and care can’t wait. Stay consistent, stay protected, stay alive. @UNAIDS_Kenya@gnpplus@afrocab_hiv@MOH_Kenya@NASCOP@nsdcc_kenya
In every flame, we observe the strength of those who persevere boldly, beautifully, and unbroken.
To every PLHIV: your courage defines you. Together, we remember. Together, we rise.
