They aren't just idiots who don't know any better. They are malicious actors who spout rhetoric they don't believe from behind a dream works smile because they know it harms another person while they are safe and unaffected, regardless of the outcome.

And allies do a disservice to marginalised groups by saying "they are an idiot. Don't listen to them." It removes agency from a malicious actor who is purposely using harmful rhetoric to hurt people.

Online people will say everyone agrees that.... but in real life, they are scared to share any of those beliefs because they know that their fringe psycho talk is looked down upon, socially.

Bigoted people don't really believe the dumb shit they say. People will say with their whole chest that gender and sex are the sane thing but when you ask them why a rat can be female but not a woman, they will squirm and pivot.
