Scaffolding being taken down in the fly tower. Massive new steel structure supports the new roof and forms a grid to mount major lighting arrays for big shows. This has been one of the biggest construction challenges of the whole build. Nice to see it revealed today!

The main auditorium with its central dome. The massive birdcage scaffolding is soon due to almost completely fill the space, to allow works on the main roof and ceiling. Plant at the bottom of the photograph gives a sense of scale.

View of the two balconies. The upper one has its new concrete floor, with scaffolding being erected to support the roof works. The lower balcony shows its steel skeleton, waiting for its own concrete floor soon. Curved portion at bottom right is the protected balcony front.

The ballroom roof has been removed revealing the rather lightweight structure that supported it. This is to be reinforced before a new roof is installed. The giant temporary roof protects the well preserved plasterwork of the ballroom ceiling.

It’s coming home…. First view of nearly complete upper balcony floor. One of the most difficult elements of the build so far, and successfully done. There’ll be 800 people dancing and jumping up here so if needs to be strong! Now strong enough to last 100 years, at least…
