Great to hear Dr Sam Wood contributing to #WorldVentil8Day by discussing https://t.co/ZqiuW4co7s findings for ventilation rates in UK schools – do get on touch with @HenryBurridge if you’d like to support #WorldVentil8Day in the future

Addressing the root problems of what happened would require more than my expertise allows, unfortunately, but we (with some colleagues) have been able to put a short piece about the role of urban flood debris during this particular tragic event.
Developing a numerical method which computes an analytical projection of the probability density function (https://t.co/nuvsjMp4iD) we are able to more accurately estimate how this process creates and destroys APE.
As a two dimensional Kelvin-Helmholtz instability evolves, the stably stratified interface of negative/positive buoyancy (red/blue) is deformed - P. Mannix, J. Craske and @David_A_Ham
This process first increases the available potential energy (APE) of the system before the Kelvin-Helmholtz billows eventually break, kinetic energy increases and APE is destroyed.
🌬️ Good news for wind energy! Dr Adam Jan Sadowski & his team receive £1.95m EPSRC Fellowship to innovate offshore wind turbine structure design with digital twins, aiming for safer, more resilient, efficient, and sustainable designs.

It was a great opportunity to present our research at #AWTEC2024, Busan, Korea.
Our work, titled “Effects of Vortex Formation Around a Caisson Oscillating Water Column (OWC) using OpenFOAM,” was supervised by @ikarmpadakis.

After several years of collaborative work, we can finally share this OA review on air-water flows: https://t.co/XYTHodZCCC
These flows are extremely important in high-head dams.
Big thanks to collaborators S Felder, M Kramer, H Wang, J M Carrillo, M Pfister and D B Bung.
Just in! A funded #PhD opportunity with @dValero_ in @FluidsICL. This is a fluid mechanics post (environment & toxicology) on 'plastic degradation during environmental transport'. Research to be conducted with @ImperialSPH and @TU_Muenchen. Details here: https://t.co/Vi2Ln4chvH
Have you ever seen a flume mode?
Flume mode is excited when the incident wave frequency or one of its nonlinear harmonics is sufficiently close to the natural frequency of the flume or an integer multiple of it. In here the traverse mode is excited.
