@DanielPriestley Productivity vs. Business Goals vs. Life Goals...no matter how productive you become a task will always take an amount of time and I just can’t see how 6hrs x 4days of highly productive work can match 50-60 hours less productive like4like work. Burnout is important to consider.
@mwt2008@Zapaman@EsTresidder @WoolleyMick @AR_Clarke @ecominimalnick So the design temp is ~45C so as previously discussed if you could get the flow temp down to 35C at outside temp of -3 with underfloor heating you would certainly see an improved COP and reduced energy demand.
@mwt2008@Zapaman@EsTresidder @WoolleyMick @AR_Clarke @ecominimalnick For that specific house and heat loss, based on the comparison of the existing radiator size and at a flow temp of 45C yes it could be.
@TrystanLea It is best that SAP stays as a worst case conservative baseline, if it was the opposite there would be more issues. SAP is slowly improving on the heat pump side of things and “as built” models can now accept high COP systems which is good.
@Zapaman@EsTresidder @WoolleyMick @AR_Clarke @ecominimalnick Depending on the size of the building and heat loss of the building MVHR may be able to heat the whole house. With ASHP it seems to always come down to cost, we are still seeing radiators being installed now and again however it is not recommended.
@TrystanLea Hi Trystan, interesting research and figures that you have provided. What I will say is your internal temperatures are much lower than (~2-3 degrees C) the majority of houses we design and install heat pumps for which is why you have seen yourself a good increase in performance
@Zapaman@EsTresidder @WoolleyMick @AR_Clarke @ecominimalnick You will always need an oversized radiator for a lower temperature system however the size depends on the heat loss of the room. Even if the heat loss of the room is tiny when you apply an oversize factor of >6 the radiator gets quite large. At this point MVHR can take over.
@Zapaman@EsTresidder @WoolleyMick @AR_Clarke @ecominimalnick You could but the oversize factor for radiators below 35degreesC is so large that your radiators are still quite big and it can be impractical. Best to switch to underfloor where possible.
@Zapaman Hybrid Air Source would fit exactly where your combi boiler is... low external temp heating in winter from boiler, continuous HW from boiler and air source for heating around 80%. Still Qualifies for Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
@HeatingConsult You haven’t found one research paper? https://t.co/H5lJOkzgPH just one site...this feels a little like “Cigarettes aren’t bad for your health”...climate change happens, but has it happened quicker and as aggressively in this period where the planet can sustain such an eco system.
@mantisenergyuk are attending the @lowcarbonhomes forum in Manchester today. Looking forward to chatting with everyone about how to meet carbon reduction targets in domestic properties as well as meeting the skills shortage challenge in the UK. #LowCarbonForum#LCH
Please could you help my partner Amanda who works at the University of Manchester. Looking for members of the public to fill in a survey
