I was invited for the friends of Maraga dinner at Sarova hotel yesterday.
Maraga shared a few things.; He expressed his concerns over the national Debt, and the fake stability of the Kenyan shilling terming it as temporary because its hooked upon borrowed loans that were taken in USD. This among other factors, is the reason 70% our revenue is going to Service debt
In his account,When elected,he plans to focus on 5 key issues first
1. Balance the national budget by cutting wasteful political spending, setting a strict debt limit, Reviewing & canceling shady contracts both local & international, and stopping unnecessary borrowing.
2. Make it easier to do business by lowering high taxes, reducing excessive rules strategically, and opening up financial markets to attract investment and create more jobs.
3. Start a National Youth Apprenticeship Program to train and employ 4 million young people within three years.
4. Build a modern economy driven by technology and innovation by investing in AI, intellectual property, tech, and setting up industrial zones in every county ,so Kenya exports ideas and products, not its talented people.
5. Fight corruption aggressively by strictly enforcing laws, removing conflicts of interest, and fully digitizing all government procurement and operations.
He believes this is achievable ,but us the Wananchi must decide if that is what we Trully want,or Not!
