Mr. Rufus Adeyanju, from Gowon Estate, Isolo heard that his wife was pregnant, was filled with abundant joy. His friend’s wife introduced them to ILERA EKO and they enrolled in April 2022.

Mrs Adeyanju did her antenatal free and on the day of delivery, the circumstances surrounding the birth of the baby was a bit complicated as the baby came earlier than expected and has to be on oxygen.

He says: “We were treated like king upon arrival at the Hospital. We were told that we are government pikin” the husband said.

Considering the number of days spent at the Hospital and the treatment given, Mr. Adeyanju was a bit scared of much the bill will cost but as she was to be discharged, instead of him paying N187, 000, he only paid 13,000 courtesy of the Lagos State Government as ILERA EKO Enrollee.

DSS COUNSELS AGAINST PLANNED PROTEST IN NIGERIA

The Department of State Services (DSS) has followed the discourse on planned protests in parts of the country in the coming weeks by persons and groups yet to identify themselves in the public as leaders of the plot. While peaceful protest is a democratic right of citizens, the Service has confirmed a sinister plan by some elements to infiltrate the protest and use it to cause chaos and extreme violence in the land. It has also identified the reason behind the protest to be political. The plotters desire to use the intended violent outcome to smear the federal and sub-national governments; make them unpopular and pit them against the masses. The long term objective is to achieve a regime change especially at the Centre.

The Service has also identified, among others, the funding lines, sponsors and collaborators of the plot. However, it does not think that aggression should be the first line action in the instance, in handling the emerging scenario. It has instead, variously applied non kinetic and conflict resolution strategies, including moral suasion, stakeholder engagement and other multi-track diplomatic shuttles, to dissuade the planners from actualising their undesirable objective.

Based on the foregoing, the Service wishes to warn all the protest groups to eschew any form of proposed rage, anarchy and spoliation. While the different levels of Government have routinely explained their agenda to ameliorate alleged harsh economic conditions, the Service urges the prospective protesters to listen to the voice of reason, good conscience and patiently engage with the authorities, in the interest of peace. This has become important given that violence begets destruction of lives and property as well as serve as a distraction to governance. The agitators are encouraged to use ample ways available to them to channel their grievances without resorting to violence.

The Service calls on people of goodwill, Leaders of Thought, Captains of Industry, Labour Unions, Student Associations, Youth Leaders, the Civil Society, Clergy, NGOs, Women groups, Civil Servants and Politicians to shun any invitation to participate in any orchestrated violence, deliberately designed to cause disaffection in the country. Similarly, Parents, Guardians, Heads of traditional and academic institutions are respectively urged to advise their children, wards, subjects and students not to take part in the planned protest. Let us all join hands to build a Nation without rancour, bitterness or stained banner.

The Service will work with other sister Security and law enforcement agencies to maintain peace. It will, where necessary, apply all legitimate methods to achieve this. But it was wilfully burnt to the ground by #EndSARS protesters after Nnamdi Kanu's voice note calling for the burning of Lagos went viral amongst selected protesters.

Go back and listen to that viral broadcast by Nnamdi Kanu. He listed specific public and private infrastructure to be burnt. Why? What has Lagos got to do with their IPOB struggle? Is Lagos the one stopping the realisation of Biafra?

And now, when we want to do an ordinary forensic examination and autopsy, we must go overseas and look like a big for nothing nation.

Enough is enough. Lagos pays its workers ₦70,000, and the state you relocated to Lagos from pays their civil servants ₦18,000. Lagos has a state-of-the-art red and blue line metro rail system that crisscrosses the state. Ordinary bus stop your Governor could not build. Your Representative was busy launching dustbins as constituency projects. Meanwhile, Lagos House of Assembly members (not even Representatives) are renovating schools.

If you want to protest, go and protest in that state, which is not as well managed as Lagos. Don't leave your hell and come to the paradise of Lagos to protest. Mba!

Pic 1: Last Year, Governor @jidesanwoolu performed the Ground Breaking Ceremony of Lagos State Central Food Security Systems & Logistics Hub, at Ketu-Ereyun, Epe.

This hub will be the largest of its kind in Sub-Sahara Africa, which is aimed at regulating the production, storage, food preservation etc. The Project is ONGOING at the moment.

Pic 2: Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu will today, commission the newly constructed middle-level food Agro-hub, located at Idi-Oro in Mushin Local Government area of the State.

The aim of this is to have 1 in each LGA bringing in the private sector to invest and give our food markets a new way of life without building big big stalls that will be too expensive for traders to rent or buy.

Also, there will be a link between the major food hub (pic 1) and all the other middle-level Agro-hubs, meaning goods from the bigger one will be dropped inside the smaller one for easy distribution, tracking and sales.

This is the Future Plan for our food Markets.

Food Security is KEY.

Peter Obi lied that GlaxoSmithKline left Nigeria because of poor economic management. Please fact-check me. Before leaving Nigeria, GlaxoSmithKline left India in November 2022. India has one of the best economic management teams on Earth. Next, GlaxoSmithKline left Kenya in October of 2022. Kenya is on a sound financial footing. Finally, they announced their pullout from Nigeria this year at about the same time Standard and Poor rated Nigeria's economy a high stable B rating.

These pullouts are part of GlaxoSmithKline's global strategy. They had nothing to do with the management of Nigeria's economy. The global supply chain crisis, coupled with the antics of some unpatriotic Nigerians who import fake and substandard products, has made it more profitable for them to manufacture in England and export to Nigeria, India and Kenya. But do not expect Arise Peoples Party to inform you of this truths.

@PeterObi lied. Again. And he is lying to incite the public and revive his 2027 Presidential ambition, which the Yes Daddy leaked audio has made dead on arrival! He is just a desperado who can even sponsor war to have something negative to say about Nigeria!

Clarification regarding the money provided by the FIRS to the Joint Tax Board to fund the activities of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee.

We are aware of a recent story regarding some funds transferred by the FIRS to the Joint Tax Board (JTB) for the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee.

The Committee's budget includes provisions for a national "Data for Tax" project which the JTB has been championing for over 2 years. The project was presented to the National Economic Council in 2022 and was meant to be funded by the federal government and the 36 states. However it stalled due to lack of funds. Given the importance of the project to the effective reform of our tax system, it was included in the Committee's budget.

Other expenses included in the Committee's budget, which has the approval of the National Assembly, include setting up of offices for the Committee in Lagos and Abuja, payment of salaries for the full time staff engaged by the Committee, travels and other logistics for over 70 members representing more than 40 institutions and stakeholder groups mapped to 6 different Subcommittees, more than 30 Secretariat personnel and over 40 students across the country. In addition, the budget covers planned stakeholder engagements with various sectors and interest groups, as well as international engagements and understudy of some leading tax regimes around the world, and so on. The budget covers a period of one year being the lifespan of the Committee.

It should be noted that the Committee was not set up simply to produce reports and recommendations, we are also charged with the implementation of recommended and approved proposals which need to be funded.

The Committee's mandate includes ensuring prudence and accountability in the management of our national resources. It will therefore be a contradiction for the same Committee to be wasteful or reckless in its own affairs. Members of the Committee work on a volunteering basis and are only paid reasonable allowances to cover their out of pocket expenses as we cannot afford to pay the commercial value for their time, skills and experience. As the Chairman of the Committee, despite working full time on the assignment, I do not receive a salary.

All the expenses of the Committee are properly documented and available for audit. We collect receipts for fuel, stationeries, and virtually every Naira that we spend to the extent possible. Over N4 billion of the said funds transferred by the FIRS to the JTB for the Committee's work is yet to be spent and very much intact in the JTB account.

We will be responsible, prudent and accountable with every Naira of public funds we have been entrusted with.

Thankful to Almighty Allah as today marks the end of my journey in the civil service of Lagos State following my voluntary retirement from the most vibrant public service in Nigeria . I give all glory and adulation to The Almighty for guiding me through the journey of leading The Lagos State Public Service as the 21st Head Of The Civil Service for the past nearly five years and I count on him and your prayers as I embark on a new journey.

I thank the Governor and Deputy Governor, The Speaker and the entire members of LAHA, The Chief Judge and all members of the Judiciary, the Executive Council, the Body of Permanent Secretaries, the Chairmen and members of all service commissions and my colleagues the entire workforce of the Lagos State Government . You have been a pillar of massive support and I truly appreciate you all. I will surely miss you all.

I enjoin you all to please extend the same and much more support to my successor in office, The 22nd Head Of Service of our dear State, Mr Shuaheeb Olabode Agoro. I congratulate him and wish him a most successful tenure in office.
