@sumitakale Beating the benchmark - but in the wrong direction! The benchmark is, of course, "max 20% deaths should be pedestrians." In Pune we had >36% in 2025.
Pedestrians fatalities in Pune were always on the higher side as compared to the 'Service Level Benchmark' by the MoHUA. But 2025 saw them scale a new high! 😡

Pune consistently has nearly 60-70% more pedestrian fatalities than what MoHUA, Govt of India suggests as a 'permissible limit' for a city's transportation to be called 'good'.
We must do whatever it takes to reduce pedestrians' fatalities!
@adityajgtp Your points are well taken - but we are planning a pedestrians' safety campaign, so we are looking at pedestrians' fatalities more closely.
Data on ped deaths in Pune. Some observations / questions:
1. M 30-49 = a huge demographic group. Is it because anyway a big % of peds are M 30-49?
2. Or because they take more risks?
3. OTOH, very few F 30-49. Are they much more careful while walking and crossing?
Any insights?
