Food for Futbol

Thought provoking analysis of soccer in America with the goal of sparking debate. My opinions & theories supported/influenced by research/facts.

@ghostofjimmysa1 Anyone who knows James Ritchie is certain he's a coward who hides behind a burner account to tear down his "friend". Shameful and bitter but not surprising.

@MLSist @MLS players should take note that their @eMLS brethren have more freedom to move between clubs.

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

@PaulTenorio Let there be no mistake: The @MLSPlayersUnion left millions on the table during the last CBA negotiation.

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

@pedroheizer Doesn't NASL require clubs to carry a bond to insure they cover operating expenses in the event something like this happens?

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

@NewYorkRedBulls has way too many talented academy players in college not to have a @USLPRO squad to sign them to. Better get it together

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

To whomever buys those @naslofficial rights from @ATLSilverbacks...I have a bridge to sell you in North Dakota. #theshipbesinking

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

Let me get this straight: @ATLSilverbacks are selling their @naslofficial franchise rights to another market so they can join @USLPRO?

[Duane Rollins @24thminute]

Just spoke to someone close to Cyle Larin:was told @nycfc aggressive in their pursuit of him. Promising him @mcfc training if commits to MLS

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

If former @PhilaUnion coach J Hackworth becomes the coach of @WilmHammerheads next season, you heard it here first. #corbenboneconnection

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

Did @AlexiLalas really just say that there are @MLS teams that aren't making $$? That hasn't been true for years. #SUM

DC United's desperation has a name and it's Chris Rolfe. He should get off the plane and immediately slot into Luis Silva's role.

2.) Convince investors @NASLofficial brings enough value, potential return to warrant increased investment risk over @USLPRO option.

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

Challenge for @NASLofficial is two fold, 1.) how do they ward off @MLS poaching best markets/owners? ATL, MN, SA, MIA all being threatened.

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

Re: battle for OK, @USLPRO struck decisively against competing @NASLofficial threats. 2nd division struggling to find new investors.

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

For all of @USLPRO's infrastructure, they continue to have a lot of issues with member clubs. Emerging threats (@NPSLSoccer, @ASL_US) beckon

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

That said, @Tuffy_Shall ownership has changed the game for @PghRiverhounds. I would view their filing more as a restructuring than doom.

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

@PghRiverhounds discussion 1st. Their bankruptcy filing shows just how volatile the lower division markets still are.

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

With @OKCNASL, @EnergyFC & @PghRiverhounds news to discuss, today's topic: @USLPRO vs. @NASLofficial

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

Foreign players present a unique wild card to negotiations as well, with the union not sure if they would stay loyal or cross a picket line.

[Food for Futbol @Food4Futbol]

In contrast, MLS players don't share that similar strike threat as most players in a larger work force would be left without work.
