There is clear evidence that the drought in Somalia has caused excess deaths. Numbers have been increasing sharply since 2021.
Behind these numbers, there is loss, and grief. These deaths are entirely preventable. We can, and must act now.
The water, sanitation and hygiene crisis affects so many other things: health, agriculture, climate change...
Governments must take action to make sure everyone, everywhere has access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.

Women are more likely than men to experience food insecurity.
They often eat LEAST & LAST. The risk is to see a regression in the progress towards gender equality.
But women are also powerful agents of change. That’s why we need to put them at the CENTRE of humanitarian action.
Famine could be the next big crisis of 2023 if we don’t act now.
Solutions exist, we just need to step up, together.
