This is always included in my Ball mastery sessions.
Not just WHAT to look for....
But also WHEN to look especially on the ball, this has to be practised.
How often do we hear the shout - "get your head up"
Cannot shout it unless you've taught it.
I was never coached what to look for when by any coach I had from 10-32 years old.
I fear that even now young players are not taught the details of scanning, perhaps one of the most determinant factors for success.
#TOVO Training
Getting the hang of TikTok...
Showing the players who has used the moves they are learning, where they used them. Speeds up learning.
Then if I can do the move, they don't say it but I know they think it, " if Fiona can do it then im bound to be able to.... " whatever works!!๐

Could Belfast lose out on a chance to host matches in Womenโs World Cup โฝ๏ธ in 2035โ
IFA chief exec Patrick Nelson says Stormont ministers have a โfinal chanceโ tomorrow to help ensure matches take place in NI. ๐
Coaches, constant critical comments- you should have passed to a No.9 when they miss, over coaching in the final third, young players getting the natural goal scoring abilities coached out of them!!
How many shots on Goal does your striker get in training???
"We need more centre-forwards,โ Lee Carsley says. โWe need more orthodox No 9s, that are capable of scoring goals. The poacher, the goalscorer, playing on the shoulder and being a focal point upfront is definitely something that I value." #ENG 1/2 .
@NIFLGrounds@ConnaireMcG Yep the men should take those times and can the women take Saturday afternoons?? Instead of 7.30pm on a Wednesday night every week!! ๐
Portadown boss Niall Currie calls for 'common sense' in terms of fixture planning as his team prepares for their third game in the space of a week ๐๏ธ
#BBCFootball#BBCIrishPrem
If every male team has a home ground... then on any given Saturday half the teams are playing away from home = Available pitches. Several choose 5pm ko, free pitches earlier in the day. Potential double headers for clubs. Same issues will arise in 20yrs if we dont change now
Chatting to female coaches from other female sports.
The issue of match days impacts their sports too. Impacts player availability.
If we really want to change female sports we have to start becoming a priority in our own game.
No more fitting us in around other groups.
Nearly 6pm just finished work...
No food, no warm up Championship level match for 7.30ko. 1hour-2hour drive
Play a full 90mins.
Cool down then 1hr-2hr drive home. Up at 5am/6am next morning for work
That's womens football!! How can standards improve!! Why women drop out.
Those who do make the sacrifice getting out of work early are getting fed up. We will loose more good talent from the game. Coaches & players.
We have a review ongoing let's up they look at these issues. Not just base it on city teams.
As predicted.... the minimum age rule change is having its knock on effect in womens/girls football.
Instead of improving the game we've made it harder....
Several teams unfulfilling fixtures, well established clubs of 10yrs pulling out of league.
Was too soon to introduce!!!
Talking to several coaches all of us saying the same thing
Not one of us able to have the same team each week, or start our starting 11.
Exams, summer holidays, Full-time jobs.
Mid week matches do not suit, working women. It suits school kids with no exams but they are u16.
