Tashwill has spent most of his life in the same community, growing up amid poverty, gang violence and limited opportunities. After losing both parents while he was still young, he had to learn to survive on his own. Now a father to a four-year-old boy, he worries that his son may grow up facing the same hardships, with housing promises still unfulfilled and employment opportunities scarce.

A Housed City means more than putting a roof over people’s heads. It means creating stable communities where families can build their lives, children can grow up in safer environments and residents have access to opportunities that allow them to break the cycle of poverty. No parent should have to fear that their child will inherit the same struggles they grew up with.
