@eddyburback Nice TRY Eddy. This photo is DOCTORED. The real lie is YOU, sir. I too can take a PHOTO before I SHAVE my mustache OFF and then POST it ON Twitter the DAY after I shave IT!
@liljogy96 You humble priests who never lived one day under Buddhism can now sneeze upon your alpha male. You made quite a sordid meme to save the world from uninterruptible commercial breaks.
@liljogy96 @ProfPeterTV My theory is that we were all raised being bashed over the head with ideas about caring for our neighbors and we just took those ideas more literally than our conservative parents expected us to. The bisexual partner thing is just cause we're cool now.
One last cool note - this observation is why we theoretically won't need generation ships if we can invent travel closely approaching the speed of light. Time dilation should allow us to travel near infinite distances in a single lifetime. /End of rant. (6/6)
Random Sci Fi rant: Faster Than Light (FTL) travel is lazy and unscientific writing. Not only does FTL travel break a fundamental law of physics that we're pretty certain of, but it also shouldn't be necessary. (1/6)
If these complications were something a writer wanted to avoid then wormholes would always be a more realistic means of exploring distant space travel without ignoring physics (see: The Expanse). FTL specifically irks me because it tosses aside our understanding of physics. (5/6)
Immigrants won't take your freedoms away. They won't change your government. They won't steal your jobs or hurt you any more than any other American citizens will. They might force you to recognize that cultures exist outside of your own and they might pass on some good food.
It's telling that when a family has 10 kids, conservatives don't complain about all the jobs those kids are "stealing". But when someone from another country seeks out an opportunity in America, suddenly the extra population is supposedly hurting everyone here and stealing jobs.
People from other countries are human too. Nothing drives me quite as mad as seeing people with a morally depraved mindset acting as though a border separates their humanity from some boogeyman "other" that they've invented in their minds.
It's easy to become convinced by social media that happiness or contentedness are things to be guilty about, but that's nonsense. You can recognize and advocate for issues without pulling your hair out over them every waking moment of your life.
Just a reminder to never feel guilty about being happy. What is the joy of life if not finding those glimpses of happiness despite the terrible things that may happen around us.
