Dream Flames Draft
6. Verheoff, D
Trade up from VGK pick. Hermansson, W (or Klepov if he falls)
35. Jack Hextall, C
36. Vanecek, D
Take top center next year
@SlapshotShibe@FlamesNation Yeah and that’ll be great for him, but I’m talking in terms of this years draft stock.. Verheoff should have no business falling to 5 but he might
@shawn_depaz He was tied up with a Carolina player outside of the shooting lane, and actually jumped into the shooting lane.. he was trying to block it, the jump was probably to get there faster and to not take the shot up high
@tsleaney@davedubbin85 A 17 year old defender in the NCAA will result in those things.. if any of the other top D-men in this draft went that route I’m not sure they’d even be viewed as top 10 picks.. Not a knock on them, but people are realllly discrediting Verheoff
@Q__Aaron@FlamesNation Agreed, but to get a top 3 talent at 6 you gotta take it.. I love DuPont, but winning the lottery is unlikely and next year is a massive forward draft which is perfect
The NHL should look into revamping the combine. I think a day of on-ice drills would be great, maybe even a little NA vs international scrimmage. Given the difference in quality of leagues, it would be really interesting to see all the prospects in a comparable on-ice environment
@HockeyTakes15@TheProspectDon I think he’s really skilled, but he’s not Hutson. Despite generating chances, he struggled to produce in the Q which is kinda concerning. It also isn’t promising that he wasn’t trusted in some situations late in the season.. obviously he’s very skilled, but there’s concerns
@BigPapiito@FlamesNation Also, I just think we need BPA.. we all want a top-3 pick so badly, well one might fall to us simply because people aren’t respecting the difficulty gap between the CHL and NCAA.. and next year is loaded with skill forwards, address that need later in this draft and next year
@BigPapiito@FlamesNation That’s a lot of pressure to put of Bruz to turn into a true top 4.. if he does then great, Parekh and Verheoff have both proven they can play on their off-side. Mews’ injury during a bit developmental period kinda scares me, reminds me a bit of Poirier
Really starting to think Verheoff is the play at 6th if he’s available.. trade up from the Vegas pick and swing on a high-skill winger, go Vanecek and and center at 35 and 36, then swing on a couple centers with the next few picks
