I call on the European Union and NATO member states to recognize Tigray and support a peaceful path to self-determination. 🇪🇺

Tigray can become the Croatia of Ethiopia: a people seeking the right to determine their own political future, build democratic institutions, live in security and develop in peace.

My message is simple: PEOPLES, NOT EMPIRES.

Europe and the transatlantic community should engage directly with Tigray, protect civilians, support peaceful democratic decision-making and be prepared to recognize a sovereign Tigray.

Fighting is reported to have been ongoing since yesterday in Raya region in southern Tigray, according to local Media, who spoke to residents.

The reports say that the fighting is between Tigray regional and federal forces, supported by forces reportedly under the command of the region’s former president, Getachew Reda.

The fighting is reported to be taking place in districts close to the Afar border. Sources on the ground also said that the fighting is still continuing for unknown reason.

TPLF forces have completely taken over today Raya Alamata Region in Southern #Ethiopia according to FANO, which was surprised by the confusion that occurred in the Ethiopian military forces when they learned that the Tigrays were approaching.
