The problem with quoting former generals & other military, many under contract to US interests, is their hidden bias.
Not telling the whole truth is inherent in their pitch.
Saab will add in-flight refueling & additional radar for 360° coverage if ordered.

Excellent piece by mu colleague @danlebla. Ottawa's mixed fleet of F-35s and Gripens could total more than 100 aircraft, sources say. GlobalEye supply chain could be used for major Gripen project as negotiations continue #cdnpoli

Sweden is leading a major new deal to get Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine.
With over 30% of each aircraft built in the UK, it's expected to support over 5,000 jobs, more than 50 companies across Britain, and deliver a £500m boost to the economy.
Backing Ukraine. Backing Britain.
@OntLiberal@fordnation@fordnation would rather gut public education & support private for-profit schools where foreign students pay fully.
These career colleges may attract students of wealthy Ontario families by having them apply for OSAP by maximizing the "not living with parents" loophole. #onpoli
Doug Ford said he gutted OSAP because students were misusing the money and the program was too expensive.
But it was @fordnation who was mismanaging OSAP.
95% of a $465 million increase went to private career colleges, not Ontario’s public colleges and universities.

Everyone is debating whether the missile was an RBS 15 or not.
I think they're asking the wrong question.
The real story is how Ukraine combined sea drones, UAVs, intelligence assets and long-range precision weapons into a single kill chain.
One drone forces the radar to activate.
One sensor confirms the target.
One missile exploits the opening.
That's not a missile story.
That's a systems engineering story.
And every engagement generates data for the next generation of weapons.
Russia may be helping Saab improve Gungnir faster than any peacetime test program ever could.
Welcome to warfare in 2026.

⚡🇩🇰🇺🇸 F-35 STICKER SHOCK: Denmark's Fighter Jet Program Blows Past Budget by $2.2 Billion
Denmark's 27 F-35s are now expected to cost $11.2 billion over 30 years, about $2.2 billion more than originally projected. National auditors say lawmakers were not adequately informed about the program's full long term costs, including maintenance and pilot training.

When our friends and Allies call, we answer.
This weekend, Canada provided urgently needed air defence capabilities to Ukraine. Grateful to Belgium for their critical assistance as we collectively support Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s ongoing aggression.

⚡🇫🇷 Nuclear arms race accelerates: France adds 80 warheads in a single year
France's nuclear arsenal has grown from 290 warheads in 2025 to 370 in 2026, an increase of 80 nuclear weapons in just one year, according to the latest SIPRI report.
As global powers continue to modernize and expand their arsenals, concerns over a renewed nuclear arms race are mounting.

The CFIA just banned livestock imports from Texas, and honestly, good.
New World screwworm was eradicated from North America in the 1960s. It took decades of effort to get rid of it. Now it’s back, confirmed in Texas, and a second case just popped up days after the first.
This is a flesh-eating parasite. The larvae literally consume living tissue from the inside out. It can kill an animal. It can spread through wildlife with no respect for borders.
Texas is calling it an “overreaction.” The same Texas whose governor just declared a state of disaster over it.
Canada has the tightest North American cattle supply in 75 years. We don’t have the luxury of gambling on a parasite re-establishing itself here because someone got offended by a precautionary import ban.
Buy Canadian beef. 🇨🇦

A few years ago, the headline would have been:
“NATO fighters intercept Russian aircraft.”
Now it reads:
“French Rafales and Swedish Gripens intercept Russian aircraft over the Baltic.”
That’s a major strategic shift.
Sweden is no longer a partner standing beside NATO.
Sweden is now part of NATO’s rapid reaction air defense chain in the Baltic region.
And honestly?
The Baltic geography fits Swedish doctrine almost perfectly:
- short distances
- dispersed basing
- high situational awareness
- fast turnaround
- network-centric warfare
Rafale brings weight and range.
Gripen brings agility, dispersion and exceptional integration.
Together, they create a very difficult environment for Russian air operations near NATO airspace.
This is NATO 3.0 in real time.
@GripenNews Makes sense for Germany & Sweden to join Canada in it's quest for GCAP Observer Status.
A parallel program of seamless loyal wingman &/or drone integration would be synergistic. 😉
@notjaso79646447@AirbusDefence The tanker can refuel between 8-22 fighter jets depending on the distance it must fly in it's round trip to their rendezvous point.
It can carry a full fuel load, passengers & cargo simultaneously.
If the depot where it offloads has fuel storage it can return to refueling.
The first Airbus #A330MRTT for Canada🍁 (STTC) continues to make steady progress at our conversion centre in Getafe, Spain.
🔜 The next major milestone will be its maiden flight, a key milestone for this tanker aircraft destined to protect Canada’s sovereignty and enhance operations both in NORAD and in NATO.
@TheEuropeansHQ Canada has already expressed interest in having Observer status in #GCAP.
Germany may opt for the same if production is kept within those 3 countries.
That doesn't mean to say Canada, Germany & perhaps Sweden couldn't produce seamlessly integrated loyal wingman drones. 🤷♂️
The FCAS is dead. Long live the GCAP!
🇫🇷 France and 🇩🇪 Germany have reportedly decided to halt development of the Future Combat Air System after years of delays and industrial disputes.
Counterintuitively, this may not be bad news for European strategic autonomy.
With FCAS effectively shelved, Berlin is now more likely to join the 🇮🇹 Italy–🇬🇧 United Kingdom–🇯🇵 Japan Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), a project in which Germany has already expressed interest.
If that happens, Europe could finally concentrate its resources, industrial expertise and political capital on a single next-generation fighter platform.
For decades, Europe's defence industry has been weakened by duplication, fragmentation and competing national programmes.
One common solution would be a major step towards a stronger and more integrated European defence industrial base.

@ForgeRat Yes.. but perhaps an Air Force would not operate like that. SwAF take vehicles onboard.
Fuel is in the wings of C-130J, so not in cargo area. A process called wet wing defueling. (Not exclusive to Gripen)
Engine + trailer not too big, just over 4m. https://t.co/LNGqc8U7MA
