My journey with the @APMProjectMgmt over the past nineteen years has been one of learning, service and giving back. Having benefited so much from the association, I believe the time is now right to contribute at the Board level and help shape its future for the benefit of all members.

My commitment remains clear: to strengthen professional development, create more opportunities for connection and knowledge sharing, support emerging professionals, and champion the value of project management across society.

I believe our profession is strongest when members have a voice and the opportunity to shape the direction we take together. Thank you to everyone who has offered encouragement and support so far. I look forward to continuing the conversation and hearing your views on how we can make APM even better.

Something I’ve been dreaming about is finally becoming real. I’m so excited (and a little nervous!) to share that my second book is coming soon. This story has lived in my heart for a long time, and bringing it to life has been a journey filled with unexpected moments, and so much joy and I can’t wait to share it with you.

More details about why I wrote the book and the release date will be released soon, but I would like to make the first book post to be about some people who have been very instrumental in bringing this to pass.

First and foremost Goodluck Enimakpopo the pivotal figure in my life. The one person whom I will drop everything for without thinking twice, just to spend some time in his company. It is very important we give flowers to those we cherish while we can and there is no better way to do this than to dedicate the book to him. My dedication is on page IX of the book and will lay it bare here in verbatim:

“This book is written in honour of Goodluck Enimakopkpo You gave me my first shot at project management and have remained a mentor and inspiration ever since. My Boss, as I always fondly call you, in my heart your name is written in Gold.”

Secondly, I would like to appreciate @FemiBolaji37 who wrote the book’s foreword. Dr. Bolaji is the real definition of eminence grise. An astute professional who has seen and done it all in the area of infrastructure. He is a global development specialist and a former technical adviser to the Nigerian government on the delivery of major roads and bridge projects. An extract of his foreword reads as follows - “ Africa presents a unique and compelling case for a book on megaproject success, not only because of its infrastructure gaps but because of named challenges that make the delivery of large scale projects particularly complex”.

Lastly, I would also like to appreciate Bayo Akomolafe , who wrote the book’s afterword. Bayode is an epitome of technocracy. A beyond seasoned engineering professional who has a unique blend of technical, socioeconomic, and environmental development insights in macro-energy systems. He is a Global Program Manager with GE Vernova. An extract of his afterword reads as follows - “This book brings the African Renaissance towards development into the limelight. It emphasises the peculiarity of the Sub-Saharan African project development and implementation landscape, the uniqueness of its diversity and power play, and how these factors play into project management”.

I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to both Dr. Bolaji and Bayode who contributed to this book. Your time, ideas, encouragement, and support have helped shape these pages and bring this project to life. I am deeply grateful for your generosity and for being part of this journey.

To everyone else, for now I'll just say the story is almost ready to be yours.

@Klyve66 The term ‘second last opponent’ means there must be 2 opponents closer to the goal than the attacking player and is irrespective of whether it’s a goalkeeper or in the box etc etc. it just needs any 2 opponents.

You might be aware of my intention to stand for election to the Board of the Association for Project Management (APM). I am here to ask if I can be of service to APM members?

With every sense of gratitude and pride, I can categorically say the APM has given me everything an association can give a member and now is the time to give everything back. I know what it takes for members to aspire, I know what it takes for members to navigate their careers from where they currently are to a position where they can also make an impact. I joined the association as a student member, while studying for my PM masters degree in 2007 and have never looked back. Remaining an active volunteer ever since.

Project management is more than delivering projects. It's about creating value, developing people, navigating change, and bringing professionals together to learn from one another. If elected, I would bring years of experience serving on boards of other chartered / project associations, decades of experience in delivering projects, along with a strong commitment to:

• Strengthening professional development and knowledge sharing.
• Creating greater opportunities for members to connect and learn.
• Supporting the next generation of project professionals.
• Ensuring the association continues to reflect the wide range and evolving needs of our profession.
• Championing the value that project professionals bring to organisations and society at large.

I’m standing because I believe professional associations are at their strongest when members have a genuine voice in shaping their future.If you’re a member and eligible to vote, I’d be grateful for your support in this election.

@YusufAsunmogejo The major problem is that the installation might work 7 out of 10 times. But this should not replace the function of a structural expert to find a solution. The steel around the WC is not meant to bear structural loads. The construction industry needs everyone to play their part.
