Three Cs of credit apply, as does intention. If he bought sol with intention of profiting from price rises then sounds like he borrowed cash. Whereas if he was intentionally trying to profit from short solana then he borrowed the shares. However if he dud intend on profiting from shorting solana then the question would be how did he intend paying you a "profit" for the loan he took from you?
