If it’s ok to come to the aid of a man being beaten up, do we say “but if it’s a woman we don’t, because women don’t like chivalry?”

Here's one thing I'm confused about re: the Cornell rape case: The DA says that the reason his office didn't bring charges is that Jane Doe told police that what happened was "voluntary, conscious, and consensual." But like... who is going to the police station to report voluntary, conscious, and consensual group sex? Obviously that's not what she thought it was.

The Shame of Donald Trump

Donald Trump skipped the 9/11 memorial because it would not let him be the main character.

Twenty-five years after the attacks, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush stood at Ground Zero and honored the 2,977 people murdered that day. The sitting president of the United States could not be bothered.

The New York ceremony does not allow political speeches. It is for the dead. That was a deal-breaker. So Trump went to the Pentagon, where he could grab a microphone and turn remembrance into a performance.

Four former presidents showed up for the victims. Trump showed up for Trump.

One thing that makes me profoundly sad when I think about 9/11:

We largely saw the best of America for a while after the towers fell. The “rally around the flag” effect was real.

I remember standing in my driveway that evening, talking with all of my neighbors. I didn’t agree politically with some of them. Hell, I didn’t even *like* some of them. But that didn’t matter.

None of us knew how, but we all knew our lives had forever changed, and we knew we were stronger together.

I’m not sure ANY event today would bring people together like 9/11 did. The gap feels too wide, and the elites have a vested interest in keeping it that way.

It’s a shame that we continue to play their game.

John Abruzzo was already at his desk on the 69th floor of the North Tower when the first plane hit.

He was a Port Authority accountant and a C5-6 quadriplegic.

His power wheelchair was how he moved through the world.

Most of his floor emptied fast.

Ten coworkers did not.

They lifted him out of his custom chair and into a lightweight evacuation chair the agency had bought after the 1993 bombing - the same attack that had already trapped Abruzzo in this building once before.

That first time it took six hours to get him down.

This time they took turns: two at the front, two at the back, sliding him down flight after flight, pivoting on every landing.

One person scouted ahead.

When they hit smoke they changed stairwells.

They even stopped at a Snapple machine.

Firefighters they passed offered to take him.

The group said no.

They would not leave him.

It took about 90 minutes to descend 69 floors.

They carried him over debris in the lobby and out through a broken window.

They were on the sidewalk roughly ten minutes before the North Tower fell.

The chair that brought him down is in the 9/11 Memorial Museum now.

The names of the people who stayed with him are not as widely known as they should be.

There was no speech.

No vote.

Just a group of office workers who looked at a man who could not take the stairs and decided his life was not someone else’s problem.

That is the story.

Here is former Prime Minister Jean Chretien, 92 years old, coherent, and sharp as a knife giving another inspiring, uniting, brilliant speech to Canadians on 9/11. Makes us proud to be Canadians. He speaks about Canada’s kindness and not to mistake our kindness for weakness. We are proud of our small town Gander, that took in Americans that were stranded after the attacks on 9/11.

Meanwhile, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, 80 years old, who cannot stay awake during a 9/11 Memorial. When he is awake, he is incoherent and insulting to Americans and people around the world.
