This week we have installed a new high spec camera to observe the #seabirds nesting on offshore Boatswainbird Island. This is part of a @UKBCFs Darwinplus project in collaboration with @seabird_watch#RemoteMonitoring
We’re looking for two skilled birders to join us as Assistant Wardens in 2024, carrying out all aspects of the Obs programme, inc. spring and autumn census, seabird monitoring through the summer, and engaging with visitors to the isle.

Joining @ForthSeabirds in 2003 for my first seabird count colleagues vanished in the jungle of mallow. I understood why puffin no's we're dropping Many #FSG are stalwarts of SOSp. Nov 23The island has been transformed 🤩's Be very proud🏅More info on @SeabirdCentre website
@gannetrocks@SeabirdCentre It was a mammoth challenge but been a pleasure to part of the team along with the dedication of so many over all these years! To now see #Puffin fly in, hang out & not vanish or be hindered by the dense jungle of mallow🤩! Looking forward to the 2024 burrow count
@gannetrocks@SeabirdCentre It's 18 years since Wild Thing I Love you was screened. Several of the FSG team volunteered that day. A memorable day Chopping the dense forest, abandoned #puffin burrows revealed. Over the years counts became easier. Puffins vegetation returned. Looking amazing now. Success !
#Craigleith Perfect conditions for seal count last wk. Not the easiest island to land. From the slopes 46 pups counted (Close to webcam count) The shoreline is steep so it's important not to disturb the colony. They were very chilled! Island is looking amazing! @SeabirdCentre
If you're out this weekend and come across any dead birds, please report to @DefraGovUK@daera_ni for possible testing and report to @BirdTrack for monitoring purposes

To count this many seabirds takes serious people power 👊 – around 1,000 volunteers and professional surveyors visited over 15,000 breeding sites between 2015 and 2021
#SeabirdsCount Surveys on this scale are only possible because of the huge team effort of the army of volunteers who give up their time to help #SaveNature💚
@JNCC_UKseabirds
Feeling rather proud, seeing this epic project over the finish line! It has been one heck of a ride and I would like to sleep now 😅
Big thanks to the #SeabirdsCount team, from the fab editorial board members to the surveyors & everyone in-between you are all #CensusLegends💙
