The Trump DOJ wants to strip the American Bar Association’s power to accredit law schools. Their stated reason: “political bias.”

Here’s what’s actually going on. DOJ is currently suing the D.C. Bar to block it from disciplining Jeffrey Clark (recommended for disbarment over his 2020 Georgia election-fraud letter) and Ed Martin (threatened a law school dean’s hiring over DEI). They’ve also proposed a rule letting the Attorney General review bar complaints against DOJ lawyers — including himself — before state bars can even investigate.

And there’s a lot to review. Acting AG Todd Blanche has been referred to the NY Bar multiple times, including by 100+ former judges, over the $1.776B “Anti-Weaponization Fund” and his handling of the Abrego Garcia case. Associate AG Stanley Woodward was referred alongside him. Former AG Pam Bondi faced a Florida Bar complaint over a memo pushing DOJ lawyers to “zealously” pursue Trump’s political goals or get fired — dismissed on a technicality while she was in office, refiled after she left. Trump’s personal attorney Alejandro Brito was referred to the Florida Bar by a federal judge for bringing the IRS lawsuit in bad faith.

This isn’t about bias in legal education. It’s a coordinated effort to disable every institution with power to hold Trump’s own lawyers accountable — state bars, the D.C. Bar, and now the body that accredits the law schools training the next generation of them.

Vulcan Elements had 30 employees.

In July 2025, its CEO met with 1789 Capital — the venture firm where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner. In August, the firm bought in. Within about a month, the White House told the Pentagon to treat a loan to Vulcan as a top priority.

It came through at $620 million. Largest loan in the history of the Pentagon’s Office of Strategic Capital. Twice the company’s entire valuation. Its valuation then went up roughly tenfold.

ProPublica found the request came from Peter Navarro — senior White House adviser, close personal friend of Trump Jr. Of the dozens of companies the Pentagon was weighing at the time, Vulcan’s was the only deal initiated by a top aide to the president.

A defense official on the timeline: the call came from the White House, we have to get this done.

Nine days ago, House Oversight demanded Vulcan’s documents.

His own supervisors, in sworn court testimony, said they feared he could “snap.” They called him “crazy with a hatred towards women.”

That wasn’t said after his arrest in 2025. It was said years before it.

CBP knew. On the record, from people who worked with him directly. And he stayed on the job anyway — armed and badged, with authority over the people he’s accused of targeting.

This is the same agency currently trying to buy $10-20M in electric shock gloves with no-bid contracts. Ask yourself who they’re vetting for those.

This isn’t one bad apple. It’s a pattern documented case by case.

Supervisors who saw it coming and did nothing, because the badge came first.

Our HOA didn’t even allow political signs in our yards until I pushed the issue in the last decade.

NOAA launches the weather balloons, floats the ocean buoys, flies the satellites, and staffs the forecasters that tell us when storms are coming. That data supports about two-thirds of the economy, roughly $1.3 trillion a year, and it paid us back $73 for every dollar we spent on it.

DOGE took a chainsaw to it anyway.

They cut 2,500 people.

They pushed out 27,000 years of experience in just a few months.

Now a charter fishing captain in Homer, Alaska has spent half a season with no idea what the wind is doing in waters he fishes every day. Kansas got hit by two tornadoes nobody saw coming. Forecasters missed how strong a typhoon was as it headed for Alaska. Farmers, insurers, airlines, and city engineers are all working with worse information than they had two years ago.

And now the Trump administration plan is to cut even deeper.

They want to pull another $1.6 billion out of NOAA next year. They want to hand the rest to private companies, so your town ends up paying a business for weather data your taxes already paid for, with no promise it will even be right.

ICE said the operation was targeting someone with a final removal order.

The man who died was not that person.

Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero was shot and killed during an ICE operation in Maine.

Now the known facts:

• He had no final removal order.
• He had a pending asylum case.
• He had a valid work permit.
• Officials say he was not the intended target.

DHS says agents were surveilling an address connected to someone with a final removal order.

But DHS has not identified who that person was.

That leaves the central accountability question:

How did an operation aimed at locating someone else end with a legally authorized asylum applicant dead?

This is not a conclusion about guilt or innocence.

It is a question about the chain of decisions:

Who was the target?

What information did agents have?

Why was Durán Guerrero’s vehicle involved?

In a use-of-force operation, the facts before the encounter matter as much as the moment the trigger was pulled.

The missing target identity is now the missing piece of the story.
