Last few days of the free @ForwardPhysio conference!
@JoelBialosky: “Manual therapies are complex interventions requiring interaction between the provider and patient with the likelihood of multiple complimentary and interacting mechanisms”
Always great to listen to @DrTobyHall, this time speaking on when & when not to use manual therapy from a modern biopsychosocial viewpoint, considering psychological factors, central sensitisation and pain type in patient management.

@bendean1979 @jpcaneiro@ForwardPhysio https://t.co/FWjoSpKCAk - free series of lectures. I'm enjoying taking them one at a time and tweeting something for each lecture.
Talk 5 from the free @ForwardPhysio conference put on by Formaterapia & Manual Concepts:
Jo Nijs @PaininMotion succinctly & clearly explains central sensitisation & discusses sense and nonsense around the term. Love the broken spam filter metaphor for explaining CS to patients.
"Pain is related in many cases to sensitised knee structures as opposed to damaged knee structures"
Thanks to @jpcaneiro explaining a joint health model, targeting critical factors such as beliefs and behaviour in hip and knee OA
Free Online by @ForwardPhysio
@ForwardPhysio Talk 3:
Differential diagnosis involves understanding 4 distinct types of MSK conditions and the role of clinical tests within each type.
"If you cannot tie a condition to a tissue, then the clinical test will not perform well"
Thankyou @chadcookpt
"If this is hurting, should I really be doing this?"
As a clinician do you allow/prescribe pain during exercise?
Excellent talk by @benedsmith covering the relationship between pain and exercise which has been "ignored by researchers and feared by clinicians"
@ForwardPhysio
Great talk by Ben Wand covering the complex processes driving a cognitive model of a damaged, fragile and unhealthy self in persistent low back pain.
"Sensory inputs are always cognitively modulated"
"Perception gets dragged between evidence and prediction"
@ForwardPhysio
Have you accessed this wonderful free conference by @ForwardPhysio? Still on until the 25th of October
I'm watching the 10 videos over the next few weeks and tweeting for each video.
Thankyou to Formaterapia, Manual Concepts and the presenters 👏🙏

Great presentation by @DrTobyHall. A thought provoking talk, need to read a lot to grasp all the information shared.
Take home message is "There are many ways to manage musculoskeletal disorders". The best approach will be patient centered and backed by evidence.
