The Inter of next season is being built from the defense. It is at the back where the biggest transfer moves are reshaping the department that will be the foundation and backbone of the Italian champions, who want to confirm themselves domestically and relaunch themselves in the Champions League.

From this perspective, Evan Ndicka’s profile continues to be extremely convincing, almost a primary choice. He has known Serie A for three years, since Roma signed him from Eintracht Frankfurt for €28M, but he is also a very European profile.

Among the market names currently linked with Inter, the Ivorian is not only the only national team player currently at the World Cup, coach Emerse Faé did not want to do without him despite a hamstring injury, but he is also the one with the most experience in continental competitions.

He is now at the peak of his football maturity, and on August 20 he could turn 27 while blowing out the candles on a Nerazzurri cake, because for the club he could represent the perfect compromise and reinforcement. On one hand, he has technical characteristics that could be more than useful for Cristian Chivu: 192 cm tall, left-footed, physically imposing, and strong in the air. On the other, he is no longer very young, but certainly not old.

European profile

The scenario

Ndicka’s name being linked to Inter first emerged when Barcelona’s attraction to Bastoni could have become dangerous at a time when Inter were also speaking with Roma about Manu Koné, before changing their midfield target. Then it became relevant again when another Spanish giant, Real Madrid, once again appeared and put the Italian defender on their list of possible defensive reinforcements.

And now Ndicka remains there, despite Inter still working on Oumar Solet from Udinese. Solet is a different profile compared to Roma’s Ivorian, but considering the increasingly likely departure of Stefan De Vrij, Ndicka remains among the favorites for next season’s defense.

The truth will come in nine days. June 30 will be something of a dividing line, especially for the Friedkin-owned club, because by that date they must have set aside €60M in capital gains. Beyond this financial obligation, Roma would not want to part with Ndicka, but the pressure from Financial Fair Play is a factor that cannot be underestimated.

The center-back is valued at €40M, a figure that takes into account the fact that Roma would have to remove from the sale price a percentage destined for the player and his entourage.

The other negotiations

As for Solet, the gap with Udinese is around €5M, and that gap can be closed with a new offer that would not be excessive. Inter, in this first phase of the summer window, are the most active Italian club and the one moving the most to improve their squad.

It is a signal to their rivals and to their own fans, who see ambition backed by planning. The Marco Palestra deal could be closed within days, a new meeting is expected at the beginning of next week, while the midfield restructuring speaks English, and in that case too, new developments should not take too long.

Once Davide Frattesi’s exit to Nottingham is unlocked, Inter will proceed with the decisive push for Curtis Jones.

UEFA FFP: Inter exit settlement agreement after meeting financial target

Inter have officially exited UEFA’s settlement after meeting the final objective of their settlement agreement.

UEFA confirmed that Inter, along with Milan, Monaco, Besiktas, PSG, Royal Antwerp and Trabzonspor, complied with the football earnings rule for the 2025/26 season, based on the reporting periods ending in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

As a result, the Nerazzurri are no longer under the restrictions linked to the agreement, marking an important step in the club’s financial recovery and stability.

The decision was made by UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body, which assessed the clubs’ financial results and confirmed that Inter had reached the required targets.

While other clubs such as Marseille and Roma received sanctions for failing to fully meet UEFA’s financial rules, Inter successfully closed their case without further penalties.
