🇺🇳 BREAKING: The UN is demanding answers from the UK over welfare reforms.
The Universal Credit Bill risks breaching disabled people’s rights—again.
No impact assessment. Cuts called “regression.” Demonising disabled claimants.
Deadline for U.K. to respond: 11 Aug

I think we can win UC Health yet. I think we have to win UC Health yet. Please, please, please if you’ve any spoons left, tweet and/or email your MP. #TakingThePIP
There is no plan here for addressing the significant health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities.
Preventable deaths? Lower life expectancy? Poorer health outcomes?
Nothing to address the 2000+ people who continue to be detained in secure hospitals.
New - Employment presented as almost universal route to health improvement with little recognition of:
•The harms of conditionality and sanctions
•The reality that many people are too unwell to work
•The risk that work requirements can worsen mental and physical health.
@DRDisabilityReb @TakingThePIP1@SpcialNdsJungle - Can you amplify this? Proposed changes to Universal Credit will have massive consequences for young adults with SEND trying to achieve independence & their families
I know everyone is exhausted, but if you can possibly bear it, please pop on this link, copy and paste the email, and get it sent to your MP today.
There’s a link there to help you find your MP’s address too:
